The FAI Biodiversity Day will take place on Sunday 19 May 2024 and for this purpose the Catanzaro Delegation has organized an event aimed at discovering the lush Monte Gariglione Forest.

On Sunday morning at 9.30 am two nature trails will depart from the old Forestry Barracks guided by the Carabinieri of the Biodiversity Department. A path will lead visitors to the summit of the mountain where it will be possible to admire impressive specimens of the local vegetation. Another, however, is directed to the “Piciaro” waterfall. During the latter you will be able to admire the beautiful Tacina Valley and the places where the charcoal burners carried out their activities. In addition to the treks mentioned, it will be possible to visit, exceptionally, the Gariglione Forest Barracks built in 1908 by an Austrian company that exported timber. For FAI members there is also an agreement stipulated with Orme nel Parco for those wishing to do the attractions in the afternoon. For lunch, a picnic is planned in the clearings adjacent to the location organized by the Agriturismo Carrozzino renowned for its porchetta. It is important to book for the event at the numbers or email indicated on the Facebook page of the Catanzaro Delegation. https://www.facebook.com/FAIcatanzaro
