Castellammare di Stabia (Naples). Ruotolo and not Roberto Elefante will be the group leader of the Democratic Party in the Stabia elections. “There are no political transformations, but only adherence to a shared program.” Gigi Vicinanza’s response to the three center-left parliamentarians who made an appeal to the coalition in the early afternoon yesterday is direct.

And the mayoral candidate announces: “Ruotolo will be the leader of the Democratic Party in Castellammare”. “The candidacy of Sandro Ruotolo, leader of the Democratic Party in the municipal elections of Castellammare di Stabia, is news. It confirms, together with my willingness to run for mayor, the national importance of our city. With Sandro we have more than 40 years of journalistic activism in common. Always on the side of the citizens” – this is what Luigi Vicinanza declares as candidate for mayor of Castellammare di Stabia.

“The dissolution of the centre-right municipal administration due to the Camorra is still an open wound. I accepted the candidacy for mayor with the aim of building, on the model of Naples, a broad array of democratic, reformist, progressive and moderate forces – composed of both national parties and civic experiences – precisely with the aim of giving a new course to the city public life. There are no political transformations, but only adherence to a shared program. A new project of renewal, which combines experience, competence and roots in the territory. With satisfaction I have seen the birth of a coalition that finally unites different sensitivities, cultures and histories. A coalition based on openness, inclusion, comparison with the healthy forces of the city. An ideal battle of freedom against the blackmail of the Camorra. Vigilant in avoiding the errors that have emerged in recent days in the Neapolitan reality” – explains Vicinanza.

“Faced with fears of possible Camorra infiltration among the candidates on the lists, I have already announced – both in public and private meetings – that I will hand over all the names of the candidates to the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission so that, in the appropriate times and ways, the Anti-Mafia can evaluate each individual candidacy even after the outcome of the vote. If then, in the unfortunate event, some person identified as incompatible by the Anti-Mafia were to be elected to the city council, I will ask for their immediate resignation from the city assembly. I am sure that the democratic, environmentalist, progressive, reformist, civic and moderate forces that support my candidacy are already working to protect these values” – concludes the mayoral candidate.

Meanwhile in Castellammare there are many with Vicinanza, although we have to see if everyone will be able to make a list. Coppola’s third prong lists are also slipping away – In Castellammare di Stabia, considered a political laboratory city in the province of Naples and in Campania, a field that is not large, but very large, is being created. So much so that Scala spoke of “the risk of ungovernability, that we are not all together just to win” The deadline for submitting lists for the local elections expires on Saturday 11 May at 12pm. A few days and the lists must be presented, the center right has identified Mario d’Apuzzo, senator from January to March 2018 to take over from Giuseppe Compagnone, who resigned due to incompatibility. Former deputy mayor of Gragnano, d’Apuzzo would be the name preferred by Forza Italia coordinator Annarita Patriarca who never took into consideration the alternatives that revolved around the names of Giovanni De Angelis (Fdi) and Tina Donnarumma (Lega). On the centre-left, however, the mayoral candidate Luigi Vicinanza has an enormous number of lists, but not all of them manage to find the men and women to complete them. There should be 13 to which some who would have supported Coppola would also be added. Pd, Five Star Movement and Action are the main parties, then there is room for civic experiences, former mayors and former administrators. The Uniti per Stabia list comes from the merger of the area headed by Salvatore Vozza, a historic symbol linked to Massimo De Angelis (former Fi and candidate for mayor of the Democratic Party in 2018) who will be in the field for Vicinanza, with him also the Base Popolare list Democrats and Progressives which reports directly to the former mayor Salvatore Vozza. Also from the Vozzi area comes the Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra (Avs) list which sees the fusion of several souls such as the former Democratic councilor Alessandro Zingone, Tonino Scala (regional secretary of Si), Marilena Lo Schiano for the Greens. Antonio Pannullo is the other mayor in the field but not a candidate, founder of the Democratic and Progressive Future list created together with the former group leader of the Democratic Party Francesco Iovino. The other former mayor involved in Vicinanza is Nicola Cuomo, founder of Bene Comune. He was councilor for social policies with Gaetano Cimmino, but today Lucia Fortini’s point of reference (regional councilor for public education) in the area, Sabrina De Gennaro with the Solo per Castellammare list. The lawyer had decided to ally himself last February with Tina Donnarumma (Progetto Stabia), combining the civic experiences of both. The paths have divided and in the breakfast with Vicinanza there will also be the civic Stabia Rialzati, Being Stabia of the former councilor Francesco Russo, Campania Libera coordinated by the brothers Rosario and Nello Cuomo both former city and provincial administrators and the Vicinanza Sindaco list. In short, Vicinanza’s problem now is managing all these lists, provided that all of them, both on the left and on the right, manage to complete each other, not everyone has the desire to get involved anymore
