Torre del Greco – Synthetic grass pitch inaugurated at the Chiazzolelle complex

«Intervention awaited for decades and financed thanks to funds allocated to public education».

A synthetic grass football pitch that will serve as an outdoor gym for students. It is the one inaugurated today, Wednesday 8 May, at the Chiazzolelle complex, the school that refers to the Angioletti comprehensive institute. It is here that numerous parents have gathered since the morning, waiting for their children, enrolled in the school, to be able to step on the new synthetic grass surface, created with the funds made available by the municipal administration led by the mayor Luigi Mennella through extracurricular projects financed by the public education sector. And it is on this aspect that the head teacher Rosaria Lo Priore focused in her speech before the ribbon cutting: “When I arrived in 2020 – she said – this school was in disastrous conditions, such as to allow us to regularly carry out the lessons a maximum of 2-3 days a week. We worked, and when I say worked I mean teachers, secretarial staff, school collaborators but also parents, starting with the representatives of the school board, not only to take control of the situation, but also to improve the overall conditions of all the spaces, including external ones. There were many ideas, but without the money they could not be realized: for this I thank the Municipality who assisted us and believed in the goodness of our proposal.

stop.”
Listening to the words of principal Lo Priore, the mayor: “This pitch – the words of mayor Luigi Mennella – has been awaited for years, someone told me practically thirty years. I am therefore pleased that its implementation takes place during the first year of our administration. An administration that has placed the enhancement of schools among its priorities. We have tried to do this by trying to start the school lunch service as soon as possible and by carrying out a complete weeding of the areas where our institutes are located before the start of lessons. The presence of so many parents gratifies us and pushes us once again to reiterate that everyone must work to enhance the city. A city that must be touristy, to which people must come because we have a unique cultural and historical heritage.”
Precisely the proximity to the house that hosted Giacomo Leopardi pushed the managers of the Angioletti complex to call the new camp “La Ginestrina”. Also present was the councilor for public education Mariateresa Sorrentino: “I was moved to see so many parents waiting. This is the result of synergistic work that involved the entire public education sector, led by the manager Luisa Sorrentino and the official Marianna Vitiello”.
