Bar Mayor in via Tommaseo in Padua closed for two months. During some checks, the police identified six customers, all with police or criminal records for crimes against the person, property, immigration and in violation of the rules relating to drug dealing.

One of these, a 40-year-old Nigerian, thanks also to the intervention of dog unit personnel, was found in possession of marijuana and therefore reported, while a 28-year-old Tunisian, without documents, was accompanied to the police station. The police commissioner signed a removal order against him from the province of Padua and he was placed in a Permanence and Repatriation Centre.

As for the bar, several interventions have already been carried out by staff of the Padua Police Headquarters which have highlighted, over time, the fact that the place, despite the repeated checks and measures to which it was subjected, continued to be frequented by people with previous records for crimes against the person, property and related to drug dealing and related consumption. These are all elements that contribute to defining a situation of serious danger to public safety.

Moreover the managersthey explain from the Police Headquarters, “do not demonstrate a desire to oppose this situation of degradation of the premises and consequently of the area in which it operates, but rather they hinder the activity of the police”.

The police commissioner then adopted the measure to suspend the license for 60 days. This is the application of second closure at the expense of the public establishment. The first suspension for 30 days had already been imposed in May 2022, therefore the Police Commissioner will forward the proposal for the definitive revocation of the license.
