The Giro d’Italia passes through Cesena / Cesena / Home

Cesena turns pink again on the occasion of the passage of the 13th stage of the Giro d’Italiawith departure from Riccione and arrival in Cento. The great sporting event will affect the Malatesta city in the morning of Friday 17 May when the runners and the whole caravan will cross the via Emilia to Faenzaand then continue in the direction of Bagnacavallo, Lugo and Conselice, until arriving in Cento, the arrival city.

The professional race will be preceded by the festive passage of the “snake” of the Advertising caravan composed of 30 vehicles that will stop for approximately 20 minutes between via Cesare Battisti, IV Novembre and the Risorgimento Bridgewhere they will entertain those present with music, games and distribution of gadgets.

The Municipality announces that the caravan will arrive from Riccione on State Road 9, taking the roundabout at the intersection between the via Ruffio and Case Missiroli and will continue on the same path. The other streets affected by the city route of the pink caravan will be: viale Guglielmo Marconi, viale Guglielmo Oberdan, viale Giovanni Bovio, Europe, Sugar factory, Ponte del Risorgimento, Giacomo Matteotti, Carlo Cattaneo and Emilia Ponente.

The advertising caravan, which will be made up of around 30 vehicles, will arrive in the city around 12.15pm and then stop in New Bridge area until 1pm. The arrival of the professionals is expected around 1.50pmwith the last athlete expected to leave the territory at 14.07. All the vehicles serving the teams and the organization will pass between the advertising caravan and the passage of the professionals, including the technical escort serving the cycling caravan. The last athlete will be followed by the closing vehicle of the procession, whose passage will mark the conclusion of the event in the city.

To allow the smooth and safe passage of the Giro d’Italia caravan during the morning of Friday 17 May traffic will be modified from 11.30am to 2.15pm. Specifically, from 11.15am to 2.30pm the southbound carriageway of the SS726 Cesena ring road will be closed from Ponte Pietra until the end of the SS726 ring road with mandatory exit at junction 2 and simultaneous closure of the relevant southbound entrance. At the same time, from 11.30 to 15.00 we will proceed with the closure of junctions exit from the SS 3 Bis Tiberina (E45) of Cesena Ovest, in both directions. The highway will not be affected from any variation for this reason it is recommended for travel from Cesena to other cities in both directions.

The race route will be manned by 50 officers from the local police of Cesena with the collaboration of other law enforcement agencies and approximately 90 volunteers.
