The 76 students from professional institutes and technical institutes who are attending the fourth year of the course in the 2023-2024 school year arrived from all over Italy – from Sicily to Sardinia, from Molise to Abruzzo, up to the regions closest to Lombardy. who participated on Tuesday 7 May and today in the national Cat competition (Environmental and territorial construction) and in the national Mat competition (Technical assistance maintenance) which was held, for the 2024 edition, at the Balilla Pinchetti high school in Tirano. To be precise, 59 Cat students and 17 Mat students competed, joined – out of competition – by the two representatives of Pinchetti, namely Alex Rusconi for the Cat competition and Leonardo Benucci for the Mat competition, winners last year of the competition.
The tests were preceded by a welcome moment attended by Maria Grazia Demaria, representative of the regional school office; for the College of Surveyors Francesca Muolo delegate of the National Surveyors Fund of Rome, Giorgio Lanzini president of the Provincial College and Giuseppe Bertussi, Dario Caelli and Davide Fumagalli of the CISL of Sondrio and delegates of some local companies Legnotech, Moretta Prefabbricati, Mapei, Baxter and Adecco.
In particular, the College of Surveyors underlined the importance of this competition intended as a moment of close collaboration between schools and in which the skills acquired are put to good use, but also as an opportunity to share experiences. The large presence of CAT students, in particular, indicates the great work done towards this direction with the support of both the national and provincial College of Surveyors, as well as the presence of numerous schools with a technological focus in Italy. Companies, in particular, appreciate the creation of synergies to have a match between students, training courses and future company placement.
«For us it is a great honor, indeed a double honor to host this event – states the manager, Rossana Russo -. This year it is a double competition given that our two students Alex Rusconi and Leonardo Benucci had won the national competition last year; consequently, according to the rules, the winning school organizes the following year’s edition and we did so with real pleasure. The value of these days is representative of the study path and future insertion into the world of work of the children who participate. Furthermore, I believe that it is significant to support these competitions of excellence because they also constitute a comparison between programs and directions.” In the meantime, the teachers of the other schools were accompanied on a visit to the museum of Palazzo Besta in Teglio and of some companies, and also for the participating children, at the end of Tuesday’s writing, a guided tour of Tirano, a typical dinner was organised. and then a musical evening in the school’s main hall.
