Castellammare – Minimum wage in the contracts stipulated by the Municipality

This is the request made by the Free Movement to the Prefectural Commissioners.

A council resolution for the application of a minimum wage in the contracts stipulated by the municipal body as contracting authority. This is what was asked of the Prefectural Commissioners by the Free Movement, “a political organization that aims to establish a continuous and productive dialogue with local administrations according to the principles of loyalty and fruitful collaboration”.

«In a world where work should guarantee dignity and economic security – they explain -, this proposal represents a step forward towards a more equitable and supportive future for all workers. It is time to guarantee every individual a decent wage, which reflects the value of their work and allows them to live with dignity.”

“Some Municipalities – they write in the request

sent to the commissioners -, as Florence and Bacoll, according to their legislative power, have adopted a Council Resolution, as an act of direction, which imposes, in tender notices for contracts for works and services, the application of a minimum wage of 9 euros per hour as part of the national collective agreements signed by the most representative trade union organisations. Furthermore, the Municipalities that adopt the aforementioned Resolution undertake to verify the application of the most favorable CCNL for the benefit of workers employed within the special contractual framework”.

“The Rebirth of Castellammare di Stabia passes through a virtuous administration – they underline – which creates wealth and distributes it in the form of socio-economic and cultural development to its citizens”.
