The object of the proposal put forward by Castaldini consists in the possibility of allowing doctors, nurses and more generally all healthcare personnel not to spend their meal vouchers in such a short pre-established time, giving them a deadline that is not one hour and half, as happens today, but by a few months.

“We are talking about a detail that affects the daily life of those who enter the hospital every day to work, and which is an indicator of how close or distant the regional administration can be from its employees – warns the councilor -. The canteen voucher for ASL employees is worth 5.16 euros, of which 1.03 euros are deducted from the paycheck. This is already a first oddity because usually a meal voucher has its own value, and the fact of using it does not weigh on the paycheck.”

Castaldini continues: “To date the canteen voucher must be spent outside working hours and within a period of half an hour for those who have a break in their schedule, such as administrative staff, or within an hour and half before the start of the work shift or an hour and a half after the end of the shift for those who work without breaks, such as nurses. And this represents a second oddity.”

The councilor recalls how “some health companies, to try to resolve this chaos, have established agreements with bars, restaurants and supermarkets, where the voucher can be used like a common meal voucher; However, even in this case you can spend the meal voucher in the hour and a half before or after working hours”.

Castaldini concludes: “So I wonder what fault the ASL employees have compared to the other regional employees. Is it a regulatory limit? A money problem? None of the two. It is therefore necessary to allow all healthcare personnel not to spend their meal vouchers in such a short pre-established time, giving them a deadline of a few months. The problem of recruiting or retaining healthcare personnel will not be solved, but at least it is the first part of a very long journey.”
