The Italian Pankration Athlima Fijlkam Championship (Italian Federation of Judo Wrestling Karate Martial Arts) was held on 4 May 2024.
Italian Fijlkam class championship intended for registered athletes of Italian Pankration nationality under 17 – under 20 – under 40 specialties: Agon Athlima, Palaesmata, Polydamas, Kato-Pankration, Pix Lax and Pliris. Pankration is part of the Fighting sector of Fijlkam.
The competition saw the participation of 120 athletes in the various weight categories from different regions of Italy who faced each other on the two “Gyms” or “Mats” without sparing themselves and demonstrating to the large audience present the athletes’ fighting skills. In the Under 20 class they won the call-up to the National Pankration team and will represent Italy in the next European and World competitions organized by Uww (United World Wrestling), Adriano Majugariten Herrera and Giuseppe Picaro finishing first, in the Under 17 class they took first place and Alessio Leccese, Biagio Piserchia, Simone Romaniello and Gianmarco Brando Vallario also received the call-up. The competition, organized by the Asd Evolution Artagon Foggia association led by Mario and Antonio Moroso, is present on the Federation’s calendar and took place in the splendid setting of Ascoli Satriano.
The organizers expressed full satisfaction with the success of the event and with the performances of their athletes.
The club ranking saw Asd Evolution Artagon Foggia in first place, Asd Kodokan Lucania in second place, Asd Taekjitsu in fourth place, Asd Imperial Eagles in fourth place and Asd Martial Art Romeo in fifth place.
Pankration Athlima is a mix of wrestling and boxing, it involves total contact and is the modern version of a fight that originates from Ancient Greece and was part of the old Olympics. The word Athlima that has been added means discipline and is characterized by a competition regulation that avoids some blows, therefore, it is a disciplined and regulated sport. Modern MMA is based on Pankration which is in fact the first documented form.
