Book fair, here are the publishing houses and authors Made in Caserta

The Turin Book Fair opens tomorrow. «Imaginary life» is the fascinating theme of this thirty-sixth edition. The event, which will continue until Monday, represents a highly sought-after destination for publishing houses. Terra di Lavoro is present with a good delegation. And then this year the cinema section is curated by the Caserta native Francesco Piccolo. Furthermore, Caserta has the title of City that Reads, and is also a territory of editorial production. The qualified presence of Caserta will not go unnoticed in Turin, as it is increasingly imposing itself on the market, gaining consensus and appreciation. Responding were Terre Blu, the city’s publishing house, and Edizioni Spartaco, based in Santa Maria Capua Vetere but with national promotion and distribution: this is its 23rd participation. It is the first time for Melagrana which operates in the social sector and which on Saturday at 2.30 pm presents the book “Dare” by Roberto Malinconico.

Who is participating for the second time in the Book Fair is Terre Blu, headed by the eclectic architect from Caserta Giuseppe Coppola, involved in cultural and artistic activities in the area. The new features concern the Sguardi series, dedicated to illustration and narration through images, which publishes large-format books dedicated to contemporary fairy tales and stories alongside the revisiting of traditional fairy tales, such as “Snow White” and “Cinderella”. As for the contemporary, Franco Arminio’s fairy tale “Warp. The country of professions never seen”, illustrated by the Caserta artist Battista Marello. Also highlighted will be a story in images by Nino Longobardi, an internationally renowned visual artist, “Pinocchio”, who transforms Collodi’s masterpiece into a silent book, made up only of drawings which illustrate with great expressive force the story of death and rebirth. Speaking of “Pinocchio” by Nino Longobardi, it must be said that Terre Blu will present a copy in an artist’s book version at the Salone, complete with a microchip that guarantees its authenticity via blockchain. And the Caserta publishing house will also propose an important educational experiment conducted with the students of the Leonardo Da Vinci secondary school in Caserta, “The city of utopia”, authors of the descriptions and visionary illustrations that make up the book. The kids will be present at the fair.

Ugo Di Monaco, owner and commercial director of Edizioni Spartaco: «Participating in the Fair is important for a publishing house based in the South. Beyond the direct, stimulating and decidedly rewarding meeting with readers, it offers the opportunity to enter contact with journalists, booksellers and professionals”. Edizioni Spartaco is present at the Salone with a busy calendar of meetings and writers from all over Italy. «Then – says Di Monaco – a valid and interesting component from Caserta will participate: Rita Raucci and Stefania Spartaco, co-authors with Maria Giovanna Petrillo and Claudio Lombardi of the essay “Deceptions and power. Gaslighting” will be released on May 17th in all bookstores and online bookshops. They will be in Turin on Sunday and Monday to offer a preview of it to the readers of the Salone, a significant stage in the journey started with the short film “Io vivo per te”, of which Rita Raucci is the creator, performer and, with Claudio Lombardi and Paolo Mazzarella, screenwriter. The short film can be viewed via the QR Code inside the book.” And again, in the Campania Region stand there will be the young start up FW Produzioni, innovative and with a social vocation. In Turin he will present the book “Rosso Vanvitelliano” by Patrizio Ranieri Ciu. Monday at 6.30pm in the Hall in the Oval Pavilion.

At the stand of the Tuscany Region with the Pacini Fazzi publishing house, a Caserta heart will beat. It is the book “Take me to Naples: Maria Amalia di Sassonia” by the writer and journalist Nadia Verdile. The presentation will be on Monday at 3pm. On the stand of the Puglia Region there is the publishing house Terra Somnia, founded by the writers Paolo Miggiano and Alessia Guerriero, both operating in Caserta. The book «Maresa» by Angela Porfidia from Caserta, who died prematurely, will be presented on Friday by Miggiano himself. And the students of the Vincenzo Rocco middle school who reached the grand final of the Comix Games 2024 will fly from Sant’Arpino to Turin. This is the national ludolinguistics competition organized by Comix (Franco Cosimo Panini Editore) in collaboration with the Turin International Book Fair and Repubblica@Scuola, with the participation of the Mondadori publishing house, the Egyptian Museum and Bper Banca. The appointment is for Monday.
