Illegal workers, 25 thousand euro fine for company

He employed Pakistani workers illegally in his agricultural company in the area, two of whom were illegal, also violating the obligation of training and information and that of carrying out medical examinations. For this reason, the carabinieri and soldiers of the Nil (Labour Inspectorate Unit) of Bologna and of the Company of Imola sanctioned the owner of the company with a maxi fine of over 25 thousand euros for illegal work, equal to 4,860 euros for each irregular worker, reporting it to the Bologna Prosecutor’s Office. In detail, during the inspection of the company, which is based in the municipality of Imola, “seven Pakistani workers were identified, two of whom were found to be illegal on the national territory”, as they “lack valid residence permits for the work and employed in illegal work, therefore without a contract, social security protection and insurance protection”. Hence the ‘maxi sanction’ for illegal work and the complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office “for failure to comply with the legislation regarding the employment of non-EU citizens without a residence permit, which provides for penalties of up to three years in prison and a fine of 5 thousand euro for each irregular worker employed”. The owner was also referred to the Bolognese judicial authority “for the deficiencies and omissions regarding the provisions on prevention, in particular for the lack of training and information of foreign workers and the failure carrying out mandatory medical checks for preventive suitability for the specific job of agricultural worker”.
