The Rimini of rock’n’roll, the wonderful years of optimism

A return to the Romagna of the 1950s with “The Rimini of rock’n’roll. The years of optimism”. A story that weaves its red thread between rock music and a slice of life that chronicles an era that no longer exists, with its vices and its virtues. Meet on Saturday at 5pm at the Gambalunga library to present Giuseppe Ruggeri’s book (Panozzo Editore). A leap back in time to when the first electric guitars were displayed in shop windows and at the pizzeria del Secolo a futuristic jukebox attracted dozens of boys and girls every day with the sound of its vinyl records. They were the first effects of a youthful wind coming from America and capable of unleashing the enthusiasm of the teenagers of the Riviera. In the wake of Elvis and Bill Haley, the first musical bands in the area began to form, but it was immediately a band that stole the show: the legendary King’s Stars. In his work, Oreste Ruggeri, pianist of the group, retraces those magical years, recalling the nightclubs of the time, the various editions of the Student Song Festival, high school balls and much more. The musical story is the backdrop to describe Rimini in the 1950s and its protagonists, such as Carlo Alberto Rossi and his encounters. The jam sessions with Celentano and the debut at the Whiskey Juke Box of a very young Mia Martini. The story of a carefree and optimistic Italy that was beginning to experience its first economic well-being thanks to American household appliances, western films, small cars from Turin and above all to the rhythm of rock’n’roll. Giuseppe Guarino, president of the Risuona Rimini association, will be present to present the book together with the author.
