Livorno, 8 May 2024 – He also remained involved Aldo Spinelli (port entrepreneur and leader of the Livorno Football for 21 years) in the judicial case concerning the governor of Liguria Giovanni Toti.
Corruption for the exercise of the function and for acts contrary to official duties. It is the accusation that the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Genoa disputes Toti, against whom house arrest has been ordered. According to the magistrates, the governor accepted from the entrepreneurs Aldo and Roberto Spinelli “promises of funding and would have received 74,100 euros”. For Spinelli father and son and for the former president of the Port Authority of Genoa (current CEO of Iren) Paolo Emilio Signorini, in addition to house arrest, the investigating judge also ordered the preventive seizure of 570,000 euros, considered profit from the crimes of corruption disputed.
The former owner of Livorno Calcio therefore ended up in trouble. He was the one who also operated in the port of Livorno for years, until he left it to concentrate his interests and activities on the port of Genoa, where he continued to operate. On 11 September 2020 Livorno Calcio sold after 21 years.
Returning to the legal matter concerning him and his son, according to the Genoa Prosecutor’s Office, in exchange for funding, governor Toti undertook to “facilitate” the entrepreneurs Aldo and Roberto Spinelli in a series of practices: to “find a solution” that would allow the transformation of the free beach of Punta Dell’Olmo “from free to private”, to support “the process of a building procedure relating to the Punta Dell’Olmo real estate complex… pending in the regional offices”; to “speed up and approve the renewal procedure for thirty years of the concession of the Terminal Rinfuse” to ‘Terminal Rinfuse Genova Srl’, a company 55% controlled by Spinelli Srl, pending before the Management Committee of the Port System Authority of western Ligurian Sea, approved on 2 December 2021.
Toti would also be committed to assigning to Spinelli the spaces in the former Carbonile Itar and Carbonile Levante port, assignments which took place in June and December 2022, and a state-owned area used by Autostrade. Again to facilitate Spinelli he would also intervene “in practice of the tombing of Calata Concenter, approved in July 2022”.
A curiosity to close: in June 2009 the Livorno of the then president Spinelli, at the end of the championship, played in the playoffs to move up to Serie A and won, returning to the top flight. This year Livorno returns to play the play-offs again with Grosseto, but to move from D to C. All this is the backdrop to the judicial misadventures of the former president of the Amaranths.
