Can Pioli be the next Napoli manager?
“It is true that Milan did not achieve the desired objectives, but we must consider that Pioli will bring the team to second place in the standings and ensure the Champions League revenues. Until he is released, he cannot be considered as Napoli’s main option. Rumors are circulating about Pioli’s possible arrival in Azzurri, but I believe the Rossoneri club is waiting to find a noteworthy replacement. The coach has been criticized a lot, but we must also understand what he has given to Milan. The Rossoneri are exploring Conceicao, the aim is to guarantee an international profile. Milan may have disappointed this season, but the actual results of this last year cannot lead to total dissatisfaction. A club that is objective towards the fans must therefore evaluate the need for a coach worthy of the Rossoneri club or, otherwise, Pioli’s permanence.”
So, could Pioli still be Milan’s coach next season?
“Meanwhile he has a contract with Milan. The owners may have decided, but they need the certainty of being able to rely on a coach who knows how to have an adequate, international profile. The suitor, in the event of a farewell, could be Napoli, who have also explored Conte. The coach from Lecce is evaluating an Italian team that can remind him of the glories of his experience with Juventus. There have been no contacts with Milan. The Rossoneri management wants another type of coach. It is clear that if Milan had wanted to replace Pioli with Conte, they would have already done so. Antonio is aiming for a return to Juventus, with the aim of bringing the Turin team back to the top. The movements all depend on the signatures and resolutions of the contracts. To date, Pioli is still the coach of Milan”
What can Stefano Pioli give to Napoli?
“What he gave to Milan: the Scudetto. Pioli has gone from a year of madness and gratification to a season in which he must find balance. We know well that De Laurentiis, already at the beginning of the year, had asked Conte for his availability to take over. Calzona, today, has a double role, but it is understandable that he is only a ferryman. Certainty is needed for the goals of the Azzurri. The same certainty that Pioli does not seem to guarantee to Milan where, however, it is the environment that, in reality, must find its own balance after years of management – and triumphs – of the Berlusconi presidency. It’s also the locker room itself that requires change. It should also be understood that, to date, there is talk of many possible movements for the next market but, with the approval of a Government Decree Law, a scenario is envisaged in which the executive will be the one to set limits on companies in order to to verify the ability to register for the championship”
