PESCARA. A meeting space aimed at 300 children, aged 10 to 17, has been created at the Children’s Park in via Tavo, in the Rancitelli neighbourhood, right in front of the Ferro di Cavallo area, the complex of Ater houses demolished by the municipal administration. Yesterday morning the keys were handed over by the mayor Carlo Mascito Domenico Trozzifounder and president of “Prossimità alle institutions”, the leading association of a partnership of sixteen subjects that will carry out the “Talent garden” project curated by Christian Ricciardicoordinator of the same association.
Inside the green area, where there is a football field and large spaces dedicated even to the little ones, there is a multipurpose structure completely renovated by the Municipality in 2022.
A new chapter therefore opens for a place abandoned for many years. Born to welcome the children of the neighborhood, in 2016 it was destroyed by a fire. The partnership will take care of the green area and the attached structure for 42 months, organizing initiatives and activities for children from the suburbs, seven days a week. We will leave in a month. The project is the result of a 2022 tender, entitled “Proximity aggregation spaces” financed by the social enterprise “Con i bambini”, foundation for the South and Ministry of Justice. Yesterday morning the delivery of the keys was attended by, among others, the deputy mayor and councilor for social policies Adelchi Sulpiziothe manager Marco Molisani and the president of the Social Policies Commission Maria Luigia Montopolino.
«We have created the fort of legality right in front of what until recently was the fort of illegality», underlines Mayor Masci. «It’s a way to give concrete answers to the residents of a difficult neighborhood. We have used the power we have well, understood as the ability to give hope to people who need it. No to degradation and crime and yes to a social rebirth.”
“There was degradation here,” recalls councilor Sulpizio. «Now, thanks to the associations and individuals involved, we are giving new life to this structure». Ricciardi explains: «The project was financed by the social enterprise “Con i bambini”, for an amount of 600 thousand euros, as part of a 2022 tender to create a youth aggregation center for minors».
