It hurts, there’s no denying it. Trento did not lack heart, pure motivation, but the quality of an Atalanta team full of talented youngsters prevailed, with a sure future in Serie A. Spalluto immediately deceived himself, then, thanks to the usual strides on the outside, the Goddess was able to strike with Cissé and Bonfanti, on Monday in Salerno with Gasperini’s first team and yesterday the protagonist of a photocopy goal seen in January, when he ruined Moll Moll’s debut on the bench at the end. The first historic yellow-blue participation in the playoffs, in the modern Serie C, ended in the first round, with some regrets. Without the long moment of decline in the middle of the championship, that of the only victory against Vicenza in 11 games, a better position in the standings would have resulted.
Baldini: good match against players of other categories
The match in Caravaggio effectively ended after the 2-1 conceded by the defender, then in the second half we saw the limits of Baldini’s team’s approach, who was unable to strike at the end of the first half on three occasions which would have changed the match. Thus Atalanta ended it with the talented Jiménez. The Nerazzurri are too fit and have already made a great impression in their first historic year in Serie C and will now face Legnago on Saturday in Caravaggio (1-0 at Lumezzane). At the end of the match, Baldini was still satisfied with his performance: «It was a good match, against a team with players from other categories, we worked during the week on something different but Anastasia got hurt, and due to her characteristics she couldn’t be replaced. The wrong opportunities
For the Comunale match, the Tuscan opted for the classic 4-3-1-2, with Giannotti in the attacking midfield in place of Anastasia (who strained on Monday), a solution already seen against Giana Erminio. Spalluto was confirmed up front after Renate and the choice of the Tuscan coach immediately bore fruit. Thanks to a construction born entirely on the left, starting from the “mind” Rada and continued with the gallop to the left of Obaretin, who served the striker in the center. Eight minutes later, at the first big opportunity, the Dea managed to get it back immediately with a pass on the outside right: Gyabuaa for Jiménez and Cissé ready to unload into the net. The equalizer made the match stellar and full of opportunities, with Atalanta pressing thanks to the arms that were by heart with the attacking midfielders: Palestra and Jiménez on the left, but also Ceresoli and Capone on the left. At the end of the first half Trento missed three chances, then two goals from the Dea extinguished all hopes. Everything postponed until next year.
