Investee companies, storm over appointments. The Democratic Party: «An armchair factory». Conte: «Targeted choices»

TREVISO – «How does Mario Conte, who wants to pass himself off as a moderate and “for everyone” mayor, go about appointing a former leading exponent of Forza Nuova and the far right like Nascimben to the airport’s board of directors? And with what skills if not those of a party card?”. Marco Zabai, municipal councilor of the Democratic Party, It couldn’t be more direct than that. The nomination of Alberto Nascimben, leading exponent of Prima i Trevigiani with an FdI membership card, in the control room of the airport company it sparked endless reactions from the centre-left. And if Zabai accuses Conte of having led «the far right inside the airport»Luigi Calesso (Civic Coalition) looks at the nominations in all the subsidiaries and speaks openly about «Casta padana» and «armchair factory».

THE SINKING

The crossfire of accusations against the mayor is incessant as well as very intense: «What happened with the entry of an FdI exponent into the Aertre board of directors on the proposal of mayor Conte should not be underestimated – continues Zabai – if on the one hand the League and center-right have accustomed us for years and years to appointments based more on personal and political trust than on specific skills, what happened with Aertre exceeds the limits of the so-called “spoil system”, as we are not talking about just any exponent”. In the eyes of the Democratic Party, the past weighs heavily on Nascimben Forza Nuova and at the top of right-wing student movements. And the fact that he was involved in some weighs even more episodes ended up at the center of the news, including some clashes which however did not lead to any criminal consequences. Arguments that should weigh heavily for Zabai. Then the mayor urges: «The mayor, instead of bowing without batting an eyelid, had to have the courage to send back to the sender the imposition made by Meloni’s party, which is confirmed to be the Trojan horse to clear the worst possible right into the institutions, with the endorsement of the “moderate” Conte”. Calesso, for its part, broadens its scope to all the investee companies, underlining among others the appointment of the Northern League group leader Christian Schiavon in the new public company “Autostrade dello Stato SpA”, of two Northern League members in the municipal pharmacies and the indication made for Aertre : in addition to Nascimben, also Marco Pinzi and the lawyer Benedetta Lolli. «Beyond the qualities of those chosen – he observes – it is difficult to understand how in 99% of cases the people considered most suitable to enter the boards of directors and boards of auditors are of the Northern League, or at most of an allied party of the former municipal ones. It is possible that outside the Northern League there is practically no one capable of carrying out those tasks?».

THE DEFENCE

Conte, obviously, sends every accusation back to the sender. And it starts from Nascimben: «Alberto Nascimben is an entrepreneur, an absolutely good person and which represents Fratelli d’Italia and the Prima i Trevigiani group – he stated – I look at people and not political affiliation and therefore I send these criticisms back to the sender which are a bit obvious and very instrumental. They leave whatever time they find. I don’t want to remember the appointments made by the center-left in the past because I’m not interested in descending to their level. Instead, I like looking people in the eyes and above all looking at human quality. And I must say that with Alberto Nascimben we made an excellent purchase.” But the mayor defends all his appointments: «There have been confirmations and changes in the various boards of directors and whoever took over is certainly up to par with their predecessors. I followed a reward criterion also based on the electoral results where the League and the civic Mario Conte were rightly recognised, the commitment of the Brothers of Italy was also recognised. They are all good people, very competent and serious. I have excellent relations with allies. In particular, with FdI group leader Guido Bertolazzi we managed to build an important path.” Alberto Ciamini of FdI and exponent of Prima i Trevigiani also intervenes in Nascimben’s defense: «We thank Mayor Conte for his trust and appointment of Aertre on the board of directors. For Alberto Nascimben the successes of his companies speak for themselves. He will demonstrate his skills with facts, we leave the opposition’s criticisms to those who wanted to sell the airport shares in 2014, a very important driving force for our city.” Riccardo Barbisan, councilor for budget and investee companies closes: «We are witnessing the usual trial of the intentions of the left, who judges even before seeing the results of the work done. When tested by facts, however, they are always proven wrong. Our subsidiaries have always been well administered and managed, even if they contest the appointments every time. But for 25 years they have been constantly denied.”
