Although everyone is anxiously awaiting the announcement of Nintendo’s new console, Switch continues its rise and continues to post rather encouraging numbers for the Kyoto company.
Switch has risen to 141.31 million units sold since launch, as noted in the latest financial report from Shuntaro Furukawa’s company. An important fact that emerged during the meeting with the company’s shareholders is that the vast majority of software sales recorded in the last fiscal year came from its own production.
To be precise, Nintendo’s total software sales during the current fiscal year have been generated 81% from the first party. Although Switch has gradually opened up to more and more second and third party developers and today offers a vast range of titles to indulge in, it is clear that the company continue to focus mainly on its own franchises and exclusives which punctually continues to publish on its platforms. Considering how profitable it is proving to be in recent years, we are unlikely to see a change of direction with the arrival of Nintendo Switch 2, which we can’t wait to admire in an official reveal.
While we continue to wait for the announcement of the next console, arriving within this fiscal year, analysts predict that Nintendo Switch will make history and surpass the DS in 2024.
