Playoff, Cerignola passes drawing 1-1 with Giugliano

With a 1-1 draw and a very hard-fought match, Audace Cerignola passes the first round of the playoffs against Giugliano. Cerignola features the same lineup as last season’s season, with only two new additions: Martinelli and Tascone. Instead, Bertotto changes several pawns to try to play a different match from the one just over a week ago.

Cerignola was immediately aggressive with Sainz-Maza who showed himself a lot on the ball already in the first minutes. In the 7th minute Vuthaj tries firsthand on a serve from D’Andrea. Salvemini’s response arrives in the 11th minute, as he smothers the shot with his left foot. In the 21st minute Tascone tries to surprise Russo with a header. Counterattack by Giugliano, De Rosa (24 ′) receives the ball in the center, shoots but his conclusion is not great. Cross from the left by Gonnelli, first touched by Vuthaj and then a decisive D’Andrea (27′) which gives the advantage to Cerignola: 1-0. At the half hour mark De Rosa tries to turn it towards goal where an attentive Barosi is there. High shot in the 37th minute by Capomaggio. Draw 1-1 in the 39th minute by Salvemini: free-kick scheme, cross by Di Dio and sharp right-footed shot by the Campania center forward. The guests push and Giugliano’s number 10 tries again from a free kick.

The match resumes, in the 48th minute Di Dio goes on his own and enters the area without finishing accurately. Two minutes later Salvemini attempted the goal with a semi-reverse shot. Cross from Saint-Maza for Tascone (57′) who misses the header. In the 65th minute, Cerignola made a triple change, with Russo, Bianchini and Visentin supporting the home eleven. In the 70th minute Di Dio tries to surprise the goalkeeper from a sidereal distance. Giugliano throws in Diop. In the 85th minute Cargnelutti heads the net, but Visentin is on the line who heads again to avoid the visitors’ advantage. There are five minutes of injury time; Giorgione tries for Giugliano, while Cerignola resists. Counterattack by Cerignola in the 93rd minute which ruins the numerical superiority. The reply is from Di Dio, but Barosi is there. In the 95th minute, a shot from outside by the home team makes them dangerous again. The last roar comes from Cargnelutti who shoots high, a few seconds before the final whistle.

It ends 1-1 between Cerignola and Giugliano with the two teams not sparing each other from the first to the last minute. The Audace Cerignola passes and will play in the second round of the playoffs.
