Coconino Fest starts again from three
with Gipi, Furuya’s manga and great international guests
To Ravenna from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd June the third edition of the comics festival. In the sign of freedom, women are the protagonists: Valentine Cuny-Le Callet from France, Anke Feuchtenberger from Germany. A rich program of eight exhibitions, from the corrosive art of Scòzzari to new Italian talents, accompanied by meetings, shows and performances and the participation of musicians and writers, from Vasco Brondi to Guido Catalano. At the MAR Museum of Art of the city, and for the first time also at the Classense Library thanks to the contribution of the Fondazione del Monte di Bologna and Ravenna.
Gipi will exhibit the plates of his latest graphic novel for the first time Stacy. From Japan comes a master of contemporary manga, Usamaru Furuya. Female comics by two great authors, the French one Valentine Cuny-Le Callet and the German Anke Feuchtenberger, they question themselves about society and our recent history. And again: the spotlight is on the mocking genius of Filippo Scòzzarion pencils

Now in its third edition, the Coconino Fest acquires an increasingly international dimension and showcases the MAR – Art Museum of the City of Ravenna an overview of the multiple languages and
of the infinite possibilities of contemporary comics, with the presence of great authors that the public will be able to meet on various occasions.
The event, organized by the publishing house Coconino Press in partnership with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Ravenna and with MAR itself, it will return to animate the city from Friday 21st to Sunday 23rd June. The heart remains the Museum, which will host 7 exhibitions as well as a full program of shows, musical events and meetings, but the festival also arrives at Classense Library with an eighth exhibition and, as per consolidated tradition, it will stop on the Hana Bi beach in Marina di Ravenna for a final evening full of fun and surprises.
Usamaru Furuya: the dark side of Japan
Japanese manga continues to dominate the charts, and to the delight of fans, one of the most popular masters in Italy arrives in Ravenna: Usamaru Furuyaauthor of several masterpieces that expertly balance irony, eroticism, fantasy and horror concerns such as Palepoli, Marie’s music and the series Amane Gymnasium. Furuya will be present on the occasion of the exhibition of the tables at MAR Hikari Clubone of his cult works, forthcoming from Coconino Press.
