Neurology hospital in Agrigento, patient thanks for the professionalism of the care received

Heartfelt letter of thanks and praise to the neurology department of the “San Giovanni di Dio” hospital in Agrigento from a patient from Agrigento undergoing treatment and diagnostic investigations:

“I would like with immense pleasure and gratitude to tell you about my experience in the neurology department of the Agrigento hospital where I was taken care of, with professionalism and kindness, by the healthcare team directed by Dr. Rosa Avarello.

I remember very little about the sudden crisis that led me to lose consciousness and the subsequent ambulance ride to hospital. It all happened just a few days ago but it seems like an infinite amount of time has passed since the period in which, first that episode and then the subsequent diagnosis of an injury with which I will have to fight in the future, took away the serenity from my days but did not deprived of the strength and determination not to give up. In addition to my family and many loved ones who are close to me, the healthcare staff of the neurology department who have been lovingly at my side since my arrival contributed to giving me this courage. Once the initial crisis was overcome thanks to the care received, I was promptly subjected to all the clinical and instrumental tests that were necessary to diagnose the nature of my health problem with absolute certainty. Various types of investigations that took me ‘on tour’ from one department to another, from one device to another according to the timetable decided in neurology. Then came the most difficult moments, those of the diagnosis, in which, I confess, discouragement and bitterness prevailed at times. I will never forget the humanity and sensitivity with which the neurology medical staff confronted me with the reality of the problem. I remember the thoroughness with which they explained the consistency of the lesion to me but also the push not to discourage myself by following the possible treatment paths and therapeutic treatments that were illustrated to me. Now, a few hours after being discharged from hospital, my certainty is precisely this: to embark on a treatment path to be tackled immediately with energy, supported by my loved ones but also by the competence and humanity of healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses and social-health workers who I was lucky enough to meet at the neurology department in Agrigento”.
