Catanzaro promotes civic education and legal awareness through the success of the ‘tournament of saying and contradicting’: students in action for legality and respect for the rules
Catanzaro was recently home to an event of national importance, where lawyers took on the role of ambassadors of legality. The “Tournament of Saying and Contradicting” saw groups of students from various schools in the city immerse themselves in the simulation of a trial, an innovative educational methodology aimed at training citizens and respecting the rules.
The event took place at the Casa delle Culture, under the aegis of the National Forensic Council, with the patronage of the Municipality of Catanzaro, as part of an agreement with the Ministry of Education regarding training projects for young people. Coordinated at a national level by Antonello Talerico, councilor of the CNF, and with the collaboration of the District Bar Association of Catanzaro and numerous other territorial orders, the initiative promoted good educational practices in all Italian schools.
The simulation of a trial was a unique opportunity for participants to test their argumentative and dialectical skills, learning the art of “saying and contradicting” and becoming familiar with the techniques of forensic debate. In addition to encouraging the development of communication and critical skills, events like this offer students the opportunity to discuss relevant issues outside the classroom, thus promoting civic education and ethical values among the new generations.
Councilor Talerico underlined the importance of initiatives of this kind in shaping aware and responsible citizens, praising the active contribution of Catanzaro in the national forensic panorama. This positive example of involvement and participation deserves to be supported and valued, as it represents a significant step towards promoting a culture of legality and respect for the rules in today’s society.
