Aversa. Tekra, the workers will be on strike

The environmental battle in Aversa of the Tekra workers has continued for months in defense of the rights and for the restoration and reclamation of the two waste collection centers of the Norman City which were abandoned and closed for years and never reopened by the last Municipal Administration led by Alfonso Golia.

Tekra is the company interested in waste collection and environmental services in the city of Aversa.

From workers and others comes the appeal for underground, more usable and safer ecological islands.

“Now they are underground ecological bombs ready to explode with the heat that is about to arrive”, says the ‘Stop the Environmental Havoc Everywhere – Aversa’ committee which on Saturday morning, 11 May, will be close to the workers.

“Tekra does not possess and does not use adequate work vehicles to carry out waste collection, periodic cleaning of the same and in fact feeds the piles of rubbish that are created at various points of the Norman City, also according to the Citizens’ specifications has revenues in the millions.”

“As a Citizen and Environmental Committee for years in defense of the territory we can do nothing but support the workers’ resistance against the criminal pacts between politics, eco-mafias and waste entrepreneurs who do their dirty business on ‘garbage’ to the detriment of the city’s health and of the environment”.

Alongside the workers in struggle is also the USB Campania union which is “carrying forward this tough battle in defense of their work and of citizens, of their own safety and that of everyone, of their own wages but above all of the environment and to demand a better waste collection service that fully applies the current regulations on environmental hygiene and supports waste separation”.

“We invite citizens to embrace the protest of the Tekra workers on Saturday and to present themselves at the protest which will be held in Piazza Municipio from 9 am under the arches of the Municipal House of Aversa”.

“The committees, associations and environmental organizations are invited to join the protest, the political forces in the field that care about the good of the City, about public health are invited to all take sides in defense of the environment and our territory. We want the restoration of waste collection centers. We want the cancellation of the ‘Empty Cellars’. We want Tari taxes to decrease by increasing a separate waste collection service in the city, which is effective and respects the territory and public health”.
