A StrettoWeb reader of Reggio origin but who has been living in Poland for some time now, sent us a testimony regarding the conditions of degradation in which he found the city of Reggio Calabria. The reader states: “First of all, I have been from Reggio Emilia since birth and Calabrian blood has been flowing in my veins since the seventh generation. I had returned to do some documents but I wasn’t able to do them and in the meantime my mother passed away so I stayed in Reggio for two days and I noticed a general squalor with bad roads, potholes everywhere, water leaking through the streets, abandoned cemeteries. I noticed that the ecological workers who kept the neighborhood streets clean no longer exist. The administrators are in the place they are only because of their friendships and not because of their self-sacrifice for the city and the citizens.”

“I think it’s time to change direction. I have Reggio in my heart and I will never be able to forget it but the administrators only serve their own interests, being an administrator means getting up before anyone else and going to sleep last, walking the streets far and wide marking out what needs to be done road and in the morning have a meeting with the councilors and say in front of everyone what is going and what is not going, giving the councilor a set time after which to ask for his resignation. If this is never done because they are friends in the administration, a city will never move forward, there must not be friends but colleagues and you must do what you were elected for”.

“I would like to return in a year and see that something has changed and not the pedestrian area on Corso Garibaldi, in which case I will be the first to say that we are in the process of changing. Greetings from Poland Bruno Fiorelli”.
