“This morning, together with the Health Director, Roberto Alfano, and the Administrative Director, Daniela Capone, I met the Mayor of Benevento, Clemente Mastella, accompanied by a delegation of Mayors from the province. With them, in a serene and proactive atmosphere of sincere institutional collaboration, we discussed the need to find every possible solution useful for mitigating the inconveniences which, at the moment, are affecting the Emergency Department of the Sant’Agata dei Goti Hospital”.
Thus the director of the San Pio hospital Maria Morgante continues “With the help of figures and data I was able to underline to all those present how the difficulty of finding emergency doctors is a dramatic reality which not only affects the Samnite territory but is a situation that involves the entire national territory.
To meet the needs we have resorted to every possible means useful to recruit staff to be able to allocate to the activities of the Emergency Department, which in recent months has been heavily penalized by retirements and exemptions of medical managers from night shifts. All this while waiting for the results of the Single competition announced by the Region for the recruitment of medical specialists in Emergency Medicine for the needs of all healthcare companies in the region.
The aforementioned competition, which ended a few days ago, did not produce the desired results no winning medical director has opted for the hospital of Sant’Agata, nor that of Benevento.
As has been done to date, and for as long as it is possible, the Company will continue to ask for the precious collaboration of the medical managers currently in service who, with great sacrifice and a spirit of self-sacrifice, continue to guarantee 24-hour shift coverage in the Emergency Department of the “Sant’Alfonso de’Liguori” hospital in Sant’Agata dei Goti and will continue to implement all the procedures, in compliance with the law and regulations in force, aimed at recruiting doctors to be assigned to the emergency-urgency activities of the hospital.
