Friday and Saturday “Theaters in danger of extinction” at the Spazio Bunker in Sassari

Sergio Garau and Stefano Enea Virgilio Raspini

Sassari. The cultural proposal dedicated to performative poetry promoted within the “Theatres in danger of extinction” event organized by the Meridiano Zero theater company closes in style. There will be numerous events that will be held at the Spazio Bunker in Sassari between Friday 10th and Saturday 11th May. It starts on Friday 10 May at 9pm with CREPA POETA, a poetry reading conducted by two masters of performance poetry, Sergio Garau and Stefano Enea Virgilio Raspini, among the most acclaimed slammers on the Italian and international scene.

It continues on Saturday 11 May from 3pm to 7pm, with SLAM LAB, a performative writing workshop held by Sergio Garau and dedicated to all those who wish to improve their poetic composition and live performance skills. In fact, the laboratory has the aim of indicating and making accessible different ways of linguistic expression, keeping in mind a close and continuous relationship between writing, voice and body. You experience how to develop a text in its various phases, from conception to structure, from choice of form to live performance.

The last of this series of events, on Saturday 11 May at 9pm there will be the long-awaited POETRY SLAM – CAATS TOURNAMENT FINAL, organized by Meridiano Zero Teatro and CAATS – Consorzio Artisti Artigiani Turritani e Sardi, in collaboration with Poetry Slam Sardegna and CLIP – Collettivo Informal Performative Literary. After three exciting qualifying rounds that attracted talented performers not only from Sardinia but also from other Italian regions, the finalists who will perform on the Bunker stage for the final evening will be: Terri Melon, Roberto Nieddu, Valentina Loche, Gabriele Baldino, Daniele Podda and Nina Lambarelli.

The MC (master of ceremonies) of the evening will be Sergio Garau, while the guest of the evening will be Stefano Enea Virgilio Raspini. It therefore promises to be an evening full of creativity, passion and talent, which will celebrate diversity and innovation in the panorama of contemporary poetry.

He founded and coordinated the Poetry Slam Sardinia, chaired the LIPS – Italian Poetry Slam League and directed the 2019 European Poetry Slam Championship. Stefano Raspini he is a poet-performer, pioneer of the Italian Poetry Slam scene. He has published “Delirio” (Baobab-Millelire, 1993), AA.VV., “Ipermarket Emilia Nord” (Baobab-Millelire, 1995), “Antiretina” (Baobab-Millelire, 1998), “Tramite inferriate” (NoReplay, 2005 ), “The petrol man” (Miraggi, 2015).

In his latest collection Crepa Poeta (Argo, 2021), echoing in the title the famous motto Crepino the artists of the Polish playwright and director Tadeusz Kantor, reconfirms and testifies loyalty to the political and ethical sense of poetic action, to the collective destination of gesture and word in verse, then to the performance. In Stefano Raspini’s poetry, through parodies, distortions and upheavals of traditional poetic language and the current excessive poeticism, while the angry oral invective flares up, the lyrical and dreamlike metaphor acts as a counterpoint, with surprising, moving and hilarious results.
