An initial inspection has already been carried out, with the official handover of the works to the company, by the metropolitan mayor, Giuseppe Falcomatà, accompanied by the deputy mayor Carmelo Versace, by the sector manager, Giuseppe Mezzatesta, and by the municipal councilor delegated for Sport, Giovanni Latella, who it served to view the state of the art of the small urban park which extends for approximately 6000 m2 and includes a seven-a-side football pitch, a grandstand for 321 spectators, changing rooms, a bowling green and a small open-air theatre. Having been unused for a long time, the sports center will once again become a space where sporting activities can be carried out and where social inclusion and aggregation can be promoted.
The planned design interventions mainly consist of adapting the dimensions of the seven-a-side football pitch as required by the LND regulations which require a slight expansion of the playing field. We will continue with the complete replacement of the field fence and the ball-holding net, with the normalization of the synthetic grass pitch and the adaptation of the sports structure and the services located inside the changing rooms to encourage use even by differently abled people. skilled.
The toilets in the referees’ room, the first aid station and every access point to the premises will be restored. Also scheduled are maintenance work on the various degraded parts and the purchase of furnishings for the football field. At the same time, the green areas will be rearranged and the lighting fixtures replaced. Finally, we will proceed with the canalisation of some sections of the rainwater disposal network coming from the grandstand.
