Modica, seminar on the action-research project “Generation Z and social”

The School for Social Workers “F. Stagno D’Alcontres” communicates that Thursday 9 May, from 8.30am to 4pm, in the main hall of Corso Francesco Crispi n. 20 (church of San Giuseppe), will be held on final seminar of the action-research project “Generation Z and Social for Digital Independence”which will be attended by high school students, social workers, youth workers and to which the entire local community involved in the educational processes of adolescents is invited.

Action research revealed quantitative and qualitative data on the relationship between young people and the digital world (habits, knowledge, fears, difficulties experienced and aspirations), which will be analyzed together with the partners involved and the local institutions involved. Furthermore, it made it possible to orient the adolescents involved towards a positive approach to the problem and to initiate prevention interventions aimed at them as recipients and at adults (parents, educators, animators) as indispensable co-actuators.

The seminar is sponsored by the University of Messina, from the Municipality of Modica, by the Order of Social Workers of the Sicily Region and by the Casa delle Donne Association of Ragusa and constitutes an opportunity to explore the relationship between Generation Z and social media to promote conscious digital independence.

The program includes interventions by sector experts, professionals and representatives of institutions.

After greetings from the Director of the School, Dr. Gian Piero Saladinoof the Mayor of Modica, Maria Monisteri, of the Coordinator of the Degree Course in Social Service Sciences of Unime, Prof. Francesco Martinesby President Croas Sicilia, Dr. Giuseppe Ciulla and of School leaders of the higher institutes that participated in the project, the Dr. Corrado Parisicreator and coordinator of the action research, will moderate the morning’s work.

Are expected panel thematic on topics such as: “Children of APPs: The new digitally popular and social dependent generations” edited by Prof. Francesco Pira, Unime professor of Sociology of cultural and communicative processes; “Out of the bubbles…social” edited by Dr. Giuseppe Raffa, pedagogist-coordinator of the Anti-bullying Clinic of the ASP Ragusa; “Studying young people today: a fundamental research topic” edited by Prof. Lidia Lo SchiavoUnime Professor of General Sociology.

This part will conclude Dr. Tonino Solarino, with a report on “Adultness and clarity in the educational role“.

Finally, they will be presented “Social laboratories” conducted by Dr. Veronica Cappello Rizzatollo, Gloria Licitra And Noemi Solarino. The results of the questionnaires and interviews will be presented by the social worker Dr. Ludovica La Ferla and commented by Dr. Corrado Parisi.

After a light lunch the works will resume, from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm, with the final presentation of the PCTO (Paths for Transversal Skills and Orientation) titled “Pari e imPari: Workshop against gender violence for the promotion of educational styles based on parity and equality”: there Dr. Carla Belluardo will summarize the structure of the training course coordinated by her and recognized by the University of Messina, together with Dr. Lisa Iudice et al Dr. Paolo Cultrera, which featured fourth grade students of the “Giovanni Verga” State Higher Institute (Linguistics, Human Sciences and Economic-social directions). It will be an opportunity to share the outcome of a meeting with all participants best practices linked to the educational use of digitalisation on a topic of strong social relevance such as gender violence.

The day of studies and discussion – says Gian Piero Saladino – is part of a year of work by the School for Young People and with Young People: the “Generation Z” project, the PCTO on gender violence, the social research on the needs of young people in the SS District n.45, the refresher course on prevention and support in exiting from deviance and crime, the seminar on training and work for the resocialization of minors detained or under external criminal execution, are stages of an organic path of study and service offered to the territory so as not to forget the priority importance of possible future of the new generations. Thursday will serve to understand together “who” young people are today and “what to do” with those – everyone – who live projected into digital society, to make them aware protagonists of their personal and community growth”.
