AGRIGENTO- The Agricultural Development Authority has started river maintenance activities in the province of Agrigento. Since last Monday, ESA personnel and vehicles have been engaged along the Kaos valley and the Scallamosche stream in works to remove vegetation and debris that hinder the normal flow of water, to avoid flooding.
In addition to these two streams, in the Agrigento area, ESA’s activity will concern the Naro river and the Rocca di Mendola stream in the Naro area, the Rincione and Anguilla streams in the Sambuca di Sicilia area, the Acetella stream near Sciacca and in Aragona along the valley of the same name.
It is a series of works designed and created entirely by the Authority, financed by the Basin Authority, which will be followed by other interventions that will affect natural riverbeds and artificial canals in the provinces of Palermo and Trapani.
“With this activity – declares ESA commissioner, Carlo Turriciano – we follow the guidelines of the regional government in the sector of prevention of hydrogeological instability. We have tested this model of positive collaboration between branches of the regional administration which has already recorded positive results in other areas and which opens up a new scenario for the organisation’s activity”.
