Not just the Tour de France. This year the Tour of Italy: on May 17th the pink caravan will tackle the Riccione-Cento stage, passing through various municipalities in the metropolitan area of ​​Bologna.

The municipalities affected by the Giro are: San Pietro in Casale, San Giorgio di Piano (responsibility for the Mondine roundabout section and part of the SP11), Castello d’Argile (SP11 between via Sant’Andrea and via Asia) and Pieve di Cento. “The pink caravan – writes the local Reno-Galliera police in a post on Facebook – will arrive in the territory of San Pietro in Casale from Altedo, traveling along the entire SP20 ‘Altedo’, reaching the intersection with the SP4 ‘Galliera’ it will turn left towards Bologna and then turn right onto Via Galliera Nord. They will continue along the railway underpass and then cross the town center of San Pietro in Casale along the ring road of via Pescerelli, entering the Galliera Sud reaching the ‘delle Mondine’ roundabout. From the rice mill roundabout the cyclists will head to Pieve di Cento on the SP11 “San Benedetto” which will be covered in its entirety. Once at the ‘Cazzani’ roundabout the group will turn right onto via Provinciale San Pietro until the intersection with via De Gasperi, a road that will be followed to reach via Asia, from here they will turn left to arrive at Circonvallazione Levante where they will turn right, they will then travel along the Pieve di Cento ring road, passing in front of the Isola che non c’è park and the cemetery, until they reach the roundabout with via Provinciale Cento (Ponte Vecchio), here the caravan will leave the territory of the Reno Galliera and head towards Cento, where the finish line is expected in via Ferrara”.

According to the organizers of the competition, cyclists should arrive at the Ferrarese junction between 4.34pm and 4.54pm; at the Mondine roundabout between 4.48pm and 5.09pm; at the Pieve ring road between 5.00 pm and 5.22 pm.

Road closures

The stage

The Riccione-cento is a completely flat stage, 179 kilometers long and with a height difference of just 150 metres. Cyclists will travel along mainly straight roads with carriageways of variable width, interspersed with residential areas. The only difference in altitude in the final part of the stage is the bridge over the Rhine river just before the finish line.
