“We are currently witnessing a series of statements from some people looking for an author that leave us perplexed. We read a note from a certain Cosimo Oteri, municipal councilor of Messina who, in addition to an attack against the mayor Basile, launched a series of reconstructions that were imaginative to say the least. First of all, we express solidarity with the mayor of the metropolitan city of Messina Federico Basile, victim of the mud machine by those who try to damage his image by attacking him as he has no political elements on which to discuss and initiate a constructive dialogue if necessary. In light of Councilor Oteri’s non-political history, perhaps he would be better off keeping quiet. The noble reasons that pushed him to leave Basile’s majority in the city council and the coalition that supported him and that had allowed his election are known and they are not reasons that make him a political figure, on the contrary they qualify him among the opportunists and the jackals of politics that unfortunately we are used to meeting on our path“. This was declared by the provincial coordinator of South calls North, Melangela Scolaro.
“In fact, we remember that Oteri left South calls North and the majority in the city council just four months after his election because he claimed to be a candidate on the main list during the last regional elections, a place that was reserved for Alessandro De Leo as he was already a city councilor and therefore also following a seniority criterion and allowing him to be elected to the Sicilian parliament, even if De Leo himself seems to have forgotten this. This is why Oteri left Basile’s majority. No disagreements on planning for the city, it has nothing to do with the common good but only opportunism and personalism that qualify it without it being necessary to add anything else”concludes Scolaro.
