the notebooks of “Palermo and its Port” on display

The exhibition of “Palermo and its Port” opens on Friday 10 May at 5.00 pm at the Ecomuseo Urbano Mare Memoria Viva in Palermo.

The exhibition features the works (eighteenth-century notebooks) of twenty-two members of the Sketchcraw/Palermo drawing group which has been mapping the territory for years.

The group of Palermo sketchers, of various professionalisms, who join the International group of Urban sketchers, born in America in 2007, met monthly, from December 2023 to March 2024, to design the ongoing redevelopment of the Port of Palermo.

The notebooks on display are the result of a project, leader and inspiration of a collective work, called “From port to port” which involved sketchers groups from Genoa and Trieste who are starting to draw their ports.

With sixty or more notebooks, the exhibition honors this border area between the land and the sea, which has been denied to the city especially since the Second World War.

The exhibition remains open to free entry until May 19th, every day except Mondays, from 10.00 to 17.00.
