On the occasion of the National Day against pedophilia and child pornography, the Postal Police released the data relating to the operations conducted in 2023, marking a year of intense activity against forms of online abuse against minors. Over the course of the year, 10 people were arrested and another 106 were reported for involvement in downloading, sharing and exchanging child pornographic images and videos.

The action of the Postal Police was particularly intensified in Campania, as well as in the regions of Basilicata and Molise, where the Operational Center for Cyber Security analyzed 656 web spaces, subsequently blocked for illicit content. These sites had been included in a black list due to the presence of child pornography material.

During the year, 95 searches were carried out on individuals under investigation for crimes related to child pornography. The analysis carried out reveals that the online threat worsens with the involvement of minors between the ages of 9 and 13, often victims of grooming. This phenomenon forces families and the victims themselves to deal with the sophisticated manipulative ability of responsible adults.

The Postal Police also places great emphasis on awareness and information activities, especially in schools, to promote conscious and safe use of the internet and combat the phenomenon of cyberbullying. These initiatives are key to educating new generations about the risks associated with the use of technology and how to protect themselves from possible abuse.
