Come back”Running with Marco“, the non-competitive charity race now historic for the whole of Brianza. The initiative will take place Sunday 12 May at Monza Park. As per tradition, there are three routes depending on the level of training. The blue route is of 5km, the red one is from 10km while the green one is designed for more trained runners and is long 15km. Three options, therefore, to meet the needs and “legs” of all runners, even the less trained ones.
The initiative reaches its 11th edition in 2024. In 2023 the members there were 1031 and the funds raised were around 12 thousand euros.
The “Running with Marco” route
The race route winds through the avenues of the park starting from Cascina San Fedele towards the main entrance of Monza, then along Viale dei Tigli following the routes of 5 km (blue route) or 10 km (red route) certified by the Italian Athletics Federation. The routes are marked by different colored signs placed on the pavement and wind completely on asphalted roads.
The first stretch is common to both routes; at the end of viale Mirabello continue straight on completing the 5 km or turn left towards Villasanta to continue along the 10 km route. Those who choose to travel the 15 km must follow the 10 km route and then the 5 km route.
The beneficial purpose for the fight against leukemia
The “Running with Marco” race was born on the initiative of Manuela Valentim, wife of 34-year-old Marco Casati who passed away after a few months of illness. Marco Casati was partner and instructor of Freesport Gyms of Monza and MB Fitness of Verano Brianza and triathlete registered with the company Triathlon Team Brianza. One passionate sportsman who is now remembered with a race in the most beautiful and significant place in Brianza, the park. A race that is increasingly experienced and participated in and which in recent years has allowed us to raise funds for the association Light and Life of the San Gerardo Hospital in Monzaactive in spreading information and knowledge about leukemia in order to fight them by helping patients undergoing treatment along the way.
Registrations
Registrations are open online until May 9th. It will also be possible also register on the day of the race directly on site.
