VARESE – Fines of up to 9 thousand euros for the use of slot machines outside the scheduled times and in the “protected” slots, i.e. those times identified by municipal ordinances to combat gambling addiction. He elevated them there Guardia di Finanza of Varese against 17 public businesses in Caronno Pertusella, Cremenaga, Cunardo, Ferrera di Varese, Luino, Maccagno, Marchirolo and Olgiate Olona.

The infringements were identified thanks to an application used by the Economic-Financial Police, called “Scaams”. The software made it possible to identify the operation of some entertainment machines, in violation of the time restrictions. Fines range from 100 to 9,294 euros. The operation is by the provincial command of the Fiamme Gialle of Varese.

The premises, essentially, would have violated the Ordinances issued by the Mayors and related Regulations approved by the Municipal Councils for the prevention and fight against gambling addiction and other problems related to legal gambling. These measures require entertainment devices to be turned off during “protected time slots”, mostly around the times of entry and exit from work and school.

The fight against gambling addiction

The timely notification of the violations, on this occasion and in similar previous operations, based on objective and irrefutable elements, the financiers explain, favored the immediate payment of the sanctions by the managers recorded, many of whom turned out to be Chinese nationals. Furthermore, the amounts collected by the Local Authorities and the Prefecture of Varese could constitute precious resources to be used in new projects and initiatives aimed at preventing and combating gambling addiction.

In the public gaming sector, the action of the Economic-Financial Police is also targeted to protect players from illegal, unsafe and unguaranteed gambling proposals, safeguarding the weakest groups, first of all minors, as well as to combat infiltration attempts by economic and organized crime.
