On Wednesday 15 May at 6.00 pm – at the Palazzo dei Mercedari in Modica (Via Mercè, 6) – the inauguration of the painting exhibition by the master Salvatore Fratantonio entitled “Self-portrait, the sense and the essence” will be held.

The artistic evening includes greetings from Maria Monisteri (mayor of the city of Modica) and Giorgio Chessari (president of the Rossitto Study Center). Following the interventions of Mariacristina Tomaselli (psychologist psychotherapist) and Elisabetta Rizza (curator of the exhibition). The author, Salvatore Fratantonio, will be present.

The artistic exhibition (which will be open from 15 May to 14 July next, every day from 9.00 to 13.00 and from 15.00 to 19.00, except Sunday afternoons and holidays) is made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Rossitto Study Center with the Municipality of Modica.

“Fratantonio’s works – writes Mariacristina Tomaselli – seem to ask us about the key questions of life, they are questions to the core of existence”. For Elisabetta Rizza “the artist, to respond to the need for a narrative even more in line with his existential condition, has definitively transformed the tree which has now taken on increasingly abstract and less recognizable forms, also returning to the theme of light and darkness ”.

The meeting on the theme “Which Europe. Understanding, discussing, choosing”. The pressing and very current question aims to be an informative and comparative contribution, a yardstick for judging programs, parties, candidates and elected officials before and after the elections. A compass for civic monitoring of the actions that the Union will carry out in the next legislature. The issue posed on the table for debate is inspired by the volume of the same name published by Forum Inequalities and Diversity (Editore Donzelli, 2024, pp. 232) edited by Elena Granaglia (economist and part of the Coordination of the Forum Inequalities and Diversity) and Gloria Riva (journalist for L’Espresso).

After the greetings and introductory talks by Giorgio Chessari (president of the Rossitto Study Center) and Giorgio Guastella (secretary of the European Federalist Movement), the event program includes talks by Fabrizio Barca (coordinator of the Inequalities and Diversity Forum), Gaetano Giunta (theoretical physicist) and Silvia Vaccaro (coordination of the Inequalities and Diversity Forum). Vito Piruzza (journalist) coordinates the work.

The initiative is in collaboration with the European Federalist Movement and Forum Inequalities Diversity (an association that promotes social and environmental justice in Italy and Europe).
