With the candidacy of Daniela Colombo, acurrent councilor for local police and education and expression of the Alcide De Gasperi cultural association, the 2024 administrative elections in San Vittore Olona are in full swing. The official announcement arrived today, Monday 6 May, Colombo presented itself with the “I participate” list. You are the fourth candidate running for the mayor’s seat. The other contenders are the outgoing mayor Daniela Rossi, the candidate Marco Zerboni supported by the center-right coalition. and Fabrizio Sberna from the civic list “Sanvittore SiCura”.
For several months we have started a participation process which had as its objective openness to citizenship, listening to the needs and valorising the potential of the community. We also met people who, thanks to their cultural and human experience, helped us understand the meaning of a commitment to the common good, a term often abused but rarely practiced. Our desire was and is to break the mold of the usual politics of opposing sides to encourage transversal collaborations between people with different histories and political affiliations, but united by a passion for their community, with the aim of proposing concrete, credible and shared to best administer San Vittore Olona. An attitude of openness towards everyone, without preclusions of any kind, building bridges and not building walls, on the contrary, trying to tear down those currently existing, also towards the different components of the current administration, the different political groups and new associative realities, valuing people.
This is a courageous challenge, which we know is not simple, so much so that we had to take note of the difficulty of some friends who did not feel like continuing a new path of collaboration between different people, due to the contrary pressures of those who continue to the same old political patterns prevail. That project and that proposal for an alternative and transversal working method, however, has stubbornly continued; over time it has matured, become structured and found other faces, people passionate about their professional work and social commitment who, starting from concrete life experiences, have decided to get involved personally, giving life to a new civic list. The name chosen is “I PARTICIPATE”, which fully reflects the objective it proposes and the program it intends to present to fellow citizens, with a symbol that recalls everyone’s commitment to building, each bringing their own piece, the puzzle of our community. This is where the heart of the proposal lies: to activate, in subsidiarity, all the positive energies of our community, to respond together to the needs of each and everyone in pursuit of the common good. The person who has best and most coherently been able to live this path and carry it forward, together with many friends, is Daniela Colombo, from San Vittore with an important and appreciated by all professional experience, civic and social commitment, and lastly also administrative. She has now made herself available to run for office certainly not out of personal ambitions or as a representative of poorly thought-out political coalitions and electoral cartels, but of a group of people who want to get involved with the same objective and with that attitude towards open and inclusive collaboration that characterizes our project.
