The custody of the son would be at the center of the double attack that shocked Varese in the early afternoon, when a 40-year-old man, a former lawyer, reduced his ex-partner to serious conditions by stabbing her in the face and neck, before striking death, her father intervened to defend her. Marco Manfrinati, already on trial for stalking the woman and her ex’s mother, was arrested on charges of murder, attempted murder and serious injury. Fabio Limido, a 71-year-old geologist, died due to the stab wounds, while his 37-year-old daughter Lavinia is hospitalized in serious conditions at the Circolo di Varese hospital with a reserved prognosis. A ban on approaching the Limido family had been issued against Manfrinati: his partner, his in-laws and also his 3-year-old son. The attack occurred shortly before 1pm in the Lombardy capital on the street, in via Menotti, where the 71-year-old has his studio. Manfrinati waited for her ex-partner to come out of the building to stab her and then hit her father in the chest who had tried to stop him. The mother and wife of the two victims were also with them. “How is your husband?” the man allegedly told her contemptuously as the officers took him away. In fact, police officers immediately arrived on site and arrested the man, while 118 staff provided initial treatment to the victims. Both were taken to hospital, thanks to the intervention of ambulances, a medical vehicle and an air ambulance. The 37-year-old’s father immediately appeared to be in desperate condition and died shortly after arriving at hospital. Manfrinati, the local press reconstructs, was a former lawyer because he had removed himself from the Busto Arsizio Order before disciplinary proceedings were started against him. The man had been reported and was on trial for stalking his ex-partner and her mother, and a no-approach order had also been issued against him. After the arrest, Manfrinati exercised his right not to answer before the prosecutors.
