A 32-year-old man who, according to investigators, molested at least 12 students from Cremona between September and December 2023 has ended up under house arrest. The man, of Indian origins, denies all the accusations and through his lawyer defended himself before the judge for preliminary investigations by declaring that at that time he was hospitalized for surgery. A version that the police claim is contradicted by the story of the girls who reported the harassment. According to what was reconstructed by the investigators, the man approached the victims – before or after the start of lessons – in different but similar areas and in different ways. The “approaches” would have taken place on the train, in the station and in the area between the train station, the bus square and via Palestro, where many high schools in the Lombardy capital are located. In some cases he would have “limited himself” to compliments and loud, annoying and inappropriate phrases, in others he would also have followed the victims until he lurked outside the house. Some of the students were then followed and harassed more than once, a circumstance that fueled their fear of reaching school alone and also pushed them to carry a pepper spray in their backpacks for self-defense.
