Elly Schlein on Tour in Umbria in Support of PD Candidates
Elly Schlein – The national secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, recently embarked on a tour of Umbria, showing his support for the party’s mayoral candidates and promoting his own candidacy in the upcoming European elections. During a stop in Perugia, Schlein was warmly welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd in the Arcadia green area of San Sisto, where she participated in an event together with the regional secretary Tommaso Bori, and the candidates Camilla Laureti and Vittoria Ferdinandi.
The event began with a moving minute of silence in memory of the recent victims of workplace accidents in Palermo, followed by the words of Bori who praised the work and determination of the candidates, underlining the importance of their commitment in a campaign electoral process that stands out for its willingness to learn from past mistakes and improve current conditions. Bori criticized the right-wing policies regarding social and civil rights, in particular for their shortcomings in the management of public health, accentuating the need for a change of direction to guarantee the well-being of citizens.
Elly Schlein then took the floor to openly support Vittoria Ferdinandi’s candidacy, describing her as a competent and passionate figure, whose career has been constantly dedicated to concretely responding to the needs of the community. Schlein emphasized the importance of listening and social and economic relaunch, proclaiming Ferdinandi as the ideal candidate to complete these objectives in Perugia.
Schlein also praised the Democratic Party’s commitment to the region and the city, recognizing their generosity in building a solid and competitive coalition, capable of effectively opposing the right. He closed his speech by expressing optimism and confidence in the ability of this coalition to revitalize the city and reconnect it with European dynamics, through a vision of redemption and innovation.
