Was Gaudì in Sardinia before creating his beautiful organic architecture? After admiring this wonderful necropolis, we might even suspect it! Today we will let you discover the domus de janas necropolis of Prunittu which stands along the municipal road that connects the town of Sorradile to the rural church of San Nicola, in Oristano.

It is made up of 2 very distinct groups of tombs dug into a trachytic rocky ridge. The first group of hypogea is located in the Prunittu locality, near the south-eastern shore of Lake Omodeo, and probably consists of 15 tombs, originally accessible by some footpaths, but the collapses and fractures that have occurred over time make some of them difficult to access.

Among these, the multicellular tomb called “sa cresia” stands out. It has a large antechamber with an irregular trapezoidal plan and a single sloping ceiling. A second group of tombs, around 11, is located in privately owned land, located in the Aràccono area, and is probably attributable to the same necropolis.

To reach it you need to cross the town, head towards the highest part and continue for about 1 km until you reach the sign indicating the entrance to the archaeological area (about 50 m after the crossroads that leads to the country church of Santa Maria) .
