FAQ

In response to the most frequent questions asked by citizens regarding May 7th, the following information is provided:

1. How many days does the eviction of the population within the area subject to evacuation last?
The activity is scheduled for May 7, 2024 only

2. What time does the evacuation begin and end?
The evacuation activity must be completed by 9 am and lasts until the technical activities of the bomb squad are completed.

3. How are the areas to be evacuated identified?
The entire area to be evacuated is identified in the map published in the dedicated section on the home page of the institutional website of the Municipality of Viterbo.

4. Is it possible to identify the streets that fall within the red zone on the map published in the information section dedicated to weapons of war?
Yes. By entering the section dedicated to weapons of war, just click on the Consult the map link. At this point you can 1) or enlarge, by zooming, the yellow area (yellow circle, radius 1400 meters from the location of the bomb, blue circle, radius 500 meters from the location of the bomb) and see if your whether or not the street falls within the area to be evacuated (1400 metres); 2) or, type the name of your street in the field indicated with a magnifying glass, on the left side of the map, and start the search. The exact positioning of the street searched for will appear on the map with a specific red dot. From the aforementioned positioning it will be easy to understand whether the area falls within the area to be evacuated or not. The area to be evacuated – please note – includes all the streets falling within the yellow circle and the blue circle.

5. Do those who have not submitted the questionnaire by the established date (5 April) still have time?
Yes, by delivering it directly to the Municipality, via Ascenzi 1 – first floor. Please remember that the aforementioned questionnaire is aimed exclusively at those who are in the red zone and need transport during evacuation activities.

6. What to do in the event that an impediment of any kind, unforeseeable, arises close to May 7th and does not allow removal from the red zone?
This situation must be communicated to the number 0761348550 (Monday to Friday, from 8am to 7pm, Saturday from 9am to 1pm).

7. How is the population notified of the possibility of return?
The population will be notified through the institutional channels of the Municipality of Viterbo (website www.comune.viterbo.it and Facebook page Municipality of Viterbo informs). The updates will also be communicated through the media through newspapers. The population will also be notified through the sound of emergency car sirens.

8. What is meant by collection point and reception centre?
By collection point we mean the places where you can wait for the means of transport heading to the reception centres.
The reception centers are the places identified in which to wait for the completion of the bomb clearance operations.

9. Where will the collection points be?
There are 24 collection points identified, namely:

• Beata Maria de Mattias square,
• via Genova (parking near BNL),
• via Monte Cervino (Local Police car park),
• Piazza Atleti Azzurri d’Italia,
• via I. Nievo (in front of the Geko bar),
• via C. Cattaneo,
• via San Biele,
• Rocchi stadium (parking),
• viale B. Buozzi,
• viale Trento,
• Piazzale San Bernardino da Siena,
• Gustavo Adolfo square,
• via Friuli (park),
• San Sisto square,
• Plebiscito square,
• square of the fallen,
• Piazzale Gramsci,
• Piazza Verdi (of the Theatre),
• Crispi square,
• via Tarquini,
• viale Trieste,
• Sanctuary square (La Quercia),
• via Vicenza (in front of San Crispino climb),
• via Garbini (parking in front of the municipal offices).

The exact points will be identifiable through specific signs.

10. What will the reception centers be?
The reception centers that will host the people who have requested their stay will be the Parish of Santa Barbara, the Parish of Santa Maria della Grotticella (Mazzetta) and the Parish Church of the Holy Family (Carmine, Salamaro). The reception centers will be equipped with chemical toilets, also for disabled people. Packed lunch will be provided.

11. How are people transferred to reception centers?
People will gather at collection points. From the same collection points, people will be transferred by bus to the reception centers, starting from 6 am, with circular routes until 8.45 am.

12. Can I use the shuttle buses and show up at the collection points without having previously communicated? Can I access reception centers without requesting it?
Yes, in both cases.

13. Can animals be brought to reception centres?
Yes. They must be under the control and responsibility of the individual owner.

14. How and where will people with disabilities be transferred?
They will be transferred to health facilities and to the Parish of Saints Valentine and Hilary, specifically dedicated, in relation to the level of severity of the various pathologies

15. Will schools be closed for more days?
No. Schools of all levels, including private ones and municipal, affiliated and private nursery schools, will be closed on May 7, 2024 only.

16. Will schools of all levels outside the evacuation area be closed on May 7th?
Yes. All schools in the municipal area of ​​all levels – municipal, private and private, including nurseries – both inside and outside the area affected by evacuation activities (so-called red zone), will remain closed.
The schools of Grotte Santo Stefano, Bagnaia, San Martino al Cimino and Tobia will be an exception, as they will remain open regularly and for which the school canteen service and school transport service will be guaranteed by the Municipality of Viterbo. The appropriate ordinances will be issued in the next few days.

17. Will the University of Tuscia regularly guarantee lessons and services to students?

18. Will the activities and services of the Belcolle Hospital and the Cittadella della Salute be provided regularly?

19. In the event of partial involvement of a building from the perimeter of the red zone, should this building be considered outside or inside the evacuation area?
In the event of even partial involvement of the building, it must be considered to be evacuated in its entirety.

20. Are the residents of Strada della Palanzana, Strada Respoglio and Strada del Tiro a Segno, roads partially falling within the red zone, or in the final part, in the direction of Viterbo, obliged to leave their homes?
No. Strada della Palanzana, Strada Respoglio and Strada del Tiro a Segno are partially affected by the red zone, i.e. only in the final part, towards Viterbo. In this regard, it should be noted that people residing in the part not affected by the red zone of these roads, although not obliged to leave their homes, will not be able to reach Viterbo. However, the possibility of access by emergency vehicles remains intact.

21. Will local public transport (Francigena bus) change?
Yes. On 7 May 2024 the local public transport service will be suspended for the whole day as the same buses will be used to accompany the population from the 24 collection points to the reception centres. Further information: www.francigena.vt.it .

22. Will the public transport service, managed by Cotral, undergo changes?

23. Will train circulation be affected?
Yes. The Viterbo Porta Romana and Viterbo Porta Fiorentina railway stations will be closed to rail traffic and users from 6am to 9pm on 7 May. All information can be consulted at the link.

24. Will door-to-door waste collection be guaranteed?
Yes, it will be guaranteed, remembering however that all users in the municipal area, both domestic and non-domestic (including hamlets), will have to dispose of their waste by midnight today 6 May (starting from 8pm). Please also remember that organic waste collection will not be carried out in zones B2 and B4 (for consultation zones https://www.viterboambiente.net/pagine/calendari-viterbo). The collection of bulky waste will be guaranteed upon reservation. Even bulky waste must be displayed in the agreed place by midnight today 6 May. The bulky items booked for collection on Wednesday 8 May can be regularly displayed after 8pm on Tuesday 7 May. Night collection guaranteed in zone C – nearby islands. 25. Will electricity and gas utilities be suspended only within a radius of 500 meters from the location of the bomb?
Yes. Only to users within a radius of 500 meters from the location of the bomb. The light will be turned off at 07.00. The gas at 6 o’clock.

26. To reactivate the gas supply, once the reclamation operations have been completed, are any particular procedures required to be followed?
As communicated by 2i Rete Gas through a specific notice, posted inside the entrances of the buildings within a radius of 500 meters from the location of the bomb, the deactivation of the gas supply will take place at 6 am on Tuesday 7 May. 2i Rete Gas itself, for the purposes of correct management of the restoration of the service, informs the 1636 users within the aforementioned radius of 500 meters from the bomb, that the reactivation of the gas supply will take place according to the methods reported in the link https://comune.viterbo.it/2i-rete-gas-informazioni-per-la-riattiva-della-fornitura-a-conclusione-delle-operazioni-di-bonifica-dellordigno/ . 27. Will taxis be available?
Yes. On May 7th, taxis will be able to circulate within the red zone until 8.30 am. Beyond the aforementioned time, they will circulate outside the area affected by the evacuation phase. You can call the taxi service on 0761 1876.

28. Are there provisions for traffic and vehicle parking?
Yes. All measures regarding parking and traffic bans are indicated in ordinance no. 238 of 3-5-2024, local police, available at the link https://comune.viterbo.it/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/viabilita.pdf
