Aversa (Caserta) – The fourth meeting of the “Seminary of Studies and Research on Arts in the Modern Age” promoted by the Diocesan Museum of Aversa in collaboration with the cultural association ‘In Octabo’ will be held on Monday 13 May, from 5pm to 7pm.

The event entitled “The Arts in the seventeenth century in Campania” is a continuation of the first three meetings of the seminar started in October 2022 with the aim of creating a synergy between the academic world, the diocesan museum body and local associations qualified for the promotion, valorisation and study of the territory. In particular, this conference “focuses on the golden century of Neapolitan painting and the very close relationships between the artists working in the capital of the Viceroyalty and the city of Aversa”, states the curator, Dr. Paola Improda.

The meeting will be moderated by Monsignor Ernesto Rascato, diocesan delegate for Ecclesiastical Cultural Heritage, while the exceptional speaker will be Professor Viviana Farina, full professor in History of Medieval Art, History of Modern Art, History of Drawing and Graphics Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, who will hold a talk entitled ‘Aspects of painting and drawing in Naples between Naturalism and early Baroque’. Also scheduled are interventions by Prof. Antonio Salvatore Romano of the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy, Professor Giulio Santagata (Associazione In Octabo), Doctor Simona Anastasio and Doctor Vincenzo Salomone (OCRA Restauri).
