On Saturday 4 May, at 10.30 am at the Auditorium of the Istituto Comprensivo Perri Pitagora in Lamezia Terme, the opening event of the traveling exhibition “Gambling, don’t call it a game” took place, organized by the Vivere In Movement and welcomed by the Lamezia school directed by Giuseppe DeVita.

The event was the culmination of a project that involved the students of class 3 F, assisted by the referring teacher Ivana Giannini and the qualified presence of Maria Rita Di Cello for the Vivere In Movement, Giulia Audino, Head of the SerD of Catanzaro, Maria Rita Notaro, psychologist of the SerD and Elio Anfosso contact person for the Zarapoti cooperative.

The service that the movement intends to bring to schools year after year has as its objective the urgency of providing children, future men and women, with suitable tools and knowledge, to understand the danger that often hides behind apparently harmless. Complete digitalisation and the innate impulse to experiment with the new often leads many of them to embark on new paths, without fully understanding their extreme danger. This exhibition, promoted in past years by important national realities in the world of communication and non-profit and reused by the association, given its educational and informative effectiveness, acted as an authoritative framework for the project activity carried out to raise awareness among the students of the Institute . The collection, created by 36 cartoonists, includes around 60 slides, which address the topic using satire and irony.

This experience, as stated by the Lametina manager of Vivere In, «gave them the opportunity to take stock of the complex reality of gambling, especially the perception, very often watered down, that society today tries to give and which inevitably and silently passes on their skin and in their lives.

In the preparation phase, the children gained direct experience by listening to those who have been working in this field for a long time. They discussed and intervened practically to give shape to an information and awareness initiative within their institute. Once three laboratories were activated, the students were engaged in information and data collection activities, through interviews and the administration of a questionnaire provided by the Zarapoti cooperative”.
