“Q.Pido Festival” returns to Treviso, ten events for an increasingly inclusive city | Today Treviso | News


TREVISO – Seven days of events, film screenings and book presentations, as well as moments of fun, reflection and aggregation. From 12 to 18 May, “Q.Pido – Treviso Equality Festival” returns to the city, the event dedicated to LGBTQIA+ culture, now in its sixth edition, included in the Treviso Festival Network and sponsored by the Municipality of Treviso. The calendar of events revolves around the world day against homo-bi-transphobia, celebrated on May 17th. The event is organized by LGBT Coordination Treviso, which for over ten years has been offering information activities, the fight against discrimination, prevention and promotion of civil rightsworking for the individual and collective affirmation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, queer, intersexual and asexual people within the Treviso community.

The opening event of the festival is Sunday 12 May at 7pm at the FreakBar in Viale della Repubblica: “Aperinlove”, a friendly aperitif and musical moment to get together. The calendar continues on Monday 13 May at 9pm at the Cinema Edera with the screening of the film “Stranei”. 2023 film written and directed by Andrew Haigh which received a Golden Globe nomination, 6 BAFTA nominations, won 7 British Independents and other notable awards. Wednesday 15 May at 8.30 pm, in collaboration with Cgil Treviso and the Uniche ma plurali association, a talk entitled “What kind of words? Sexism in paid workplaces”. Protagonists Alexa Pantanella and Laura Schettini, university professors who will talk about the linguistic roots of episodes of discrimination or verbal aggression, of the more or less accepted and common stereotypes, which determine the toxic narrative in paid workplaces.

Thursday 16 May at 9pm at the Dump in Galleria Bailo an event organized together with the Treviso Comic Book Festival entitled “Bad Gays – Ruthless Portraits”. There are two events Friday 17 May: aAt 5.30pm at the LaFeltrinelli bookshop in via Canova there will be a presentation of the volume “Spicchi d’amore tra baffi dismo” by Matteo Tamai, led by the psychologist Beatrice Moro. The comedy show “Sorry, I can’t also be intelligent” by and with Mary Sarnatano will follow at 8.30 pm at the Loggia dei Cavalieri. In the end, Saturday 18 Mayat 5.30 pm the closing event of the festival at the Osteria OstiNate in via dei Dall’Oro with the presentation of the project “And then I was born twice” by Francesca Tessari, in dialogue with Ivan Marl Bolognin, one of the eight boys protagonists of the journey of discovery and affirmation of their gender identity.

“The cultural and artistic meetings of Q.Pido Festival aim to be an incentive to feel responsible for our language again and to take care of words, since this attention is one of the first forms of care towards the people with whom we interact – he claims Paola Marotto, president of the Treviso LGBT Coordination – the desire was to open up to various forms of expression to respect the principles of the Festival and its vocation to freedom and uniqueness, as well as to be able to actively involve various subjects operating in the territory and primarily the people of Treviso ”.

“Q.Pido Festival has always had the patronage of the Municipality of Treviso – he states Gloria Tessarolo, equal opportunities councilor – this is because it is an initiative that works on culture, encouraging the meeting between different people and sensitivities in dialogue with each other, without there being prejudice. It is a widespread festival, which enhances different places in the city with high-level events. It is important that associations such as the Lgbte Treviso coordination can have space to promote cultural initiatives such as this festival”.
