After eight years, the reins of the FIOM CGIL of Treviso they pass from the hands of Enrico Botter to those of Manuel Morettolong-time trade unionist and now general secretary of the metalworkers category of the red square of the Marche.

Born in 1970, a very young apprentice in a small artisan mechanical construction company first, then a welder worker in a tank manufacturing industry before arriving, in 1991, at Sile Boilers by Casier as a skilled worker. In FIOM and CGIL he began to be part of the category and organization steering committees and since 2000 he has also been particularly involved in crafts. . The task of guiding the metalworkers category until the next congress passes to him. He collects a respectable legacy with assets that count 6,875 members and over 200 RSUs in local companies. Of all members, 23.4% are women, two percentage points more than five years ago; almost 17% are under 35 while those over 55 are 26.75%.

«The commitment of the secretariat and of the entire FIOM will focus on giving continuity and consolidation to the trade union and industrial relations paths carried out in recent years, keeping firm the choices made at the last trade and organizational congress» declared the newly elected general secretary of the FIOM CGIL of Treviso Manuel Moretto.

«In addition to the necessary renewals of national collective agreementsin this phase of great changes in the sector – determined on the one hand by great geopolitical instability and on the other by the innovation of production processes – it will be essential to develop as much as possible company bargaining in the area, in particular in terms of salary integration but also of social and environmental sustainability, safety and health in the workplace in particular, starting from the expansion of representation within factories. To do this – concluded Manuel Moretto – the values ​​of the company will be more than solid solidarity, democracy, equality which move the Union and which are embodied in the fundamental role of the RSU and RLS for the protection of the rights of male and female metalworkers”.
