L’annual event with them Arthouse Cinema Meetings to Lucca: the XXIV editionafter fifteen editions in Mantua, will take place in the Tuscan city of art from September 30th to October 3rd.
For the FICE – Italian Arthouse Cinema Federation this is the main appointment for the insiders of auteur cinema: as usual, the event program focuses on one rich selection of previewsmany of which are exclusively for the public, which will be accompanied by moments dedicated to operators, with specific conferences, and screenings for schools.
The highlight of the meetings is the delivery of the FICE Awards at excellences of Italian cinemascheduled Wednesday 2 October at the Teatro del Giglio, during an evening hosted by the journalist Maurizio Di Rienzo. Furthermore, throughout the month of October, accredited exhibitors will be able to view a wide selection of previews and trailers on the streaming platform fice.daviddidonatello.it
The XXIV edition was presented today, 6 May 2024, in Lucca, at the Astra Cinemamain venue of the event together with Central Cinemain the presence – among others – of FICE president, Domenico Dinoiaand of Simone Gialdini, owner of the two aforementioned rooms. “We are extremely satisfied with the choice to program this edition of the Arthouse Cinema Meetings in Lucca. A city of art and on a human scale, which I am sure will be able to best implement our initiative. For this reason, I express my utmost thanks to those who allowed all this to become reality: from the Municipality of Lucca to the Tuscany Region, without obviously forgetting the constant support of the General Directorate of Cinema and Audiovisual of the MiCalongside the event since the first edition,” commented Dinoia.
For the mayor of Lucca, Mario Pardini“the arrival in Lucca of the Arthouse Cinema Meetings represents a new piece in the love story between the city and the Seventh Art. A love that began a long time ago”, he underlines, “which over the years has seen Lucca as the setting for many films (the latest just in recent weeks is the new feature film by Peter Greenaway, with two Oscar winners Dustin Hoffman and Helen Hunt). From September 30th to October 3rd, beyond 600 professionals of the sector will land in the city to create new synergies and opportunities, enriching the cinema offer already present in different ways and forms, as in the case of the Lucca Film Festival and Lucca Movie”.

I am therefore very happy: the Arthouse Cinema Meetings in Lucca are a deserved recognition for one of the vocations of the Tuscan capital and also for Tuscany, which confirms land of choice for cinema: for the talents it expresses, for the films it hosts and for its locations which never cease to attract Italian and international directors, welcomed by the work of Tuscany Film Commission and thanks to the cultural policies of the Region which supports cinema, as demonstrated by the latest 3 million ERDF tender, which assigns non-repayable grants for the production of cinematographic works”.
“For my family it is a source of great satisfaction to be able to host this event,” he declared Gialdini, owner of Luccacinema. “Lucca has one of the first arthouse theaters in the Region, the Cinema Centrale, where it has continued its activity for approximately 80 years of the Circolo del Cinema, one of the longest active in Italy, and has hosted a second film club for over 25 years. A city that loves quality cinema and with this event this love for cinema is sealed on the big screen.”
