Grifonissima 2024: the sports festival on 12 May in Perugia
The 43rd edition of the historic running event organized by the Avanti Tutta Foundation was presented. Among the new features is the afternoon dedicated to young people, after the morning competition and the walk through the streets of the centre. Federico Cenci: “A moment of collective identity”.
The curtain rises on Grifonissima 2024. The historic Perugia running event, now in its 43rd edition, was officially presented on Monday 6 May in Perugia, at the headquarters of the Avanti Tutta Foundation in Piazzale Umbria Jazz. In the name of Leonardo Cenci and his passion for running, Avanti Tutta has for two years now been the organizational engine that Circolo Unicredit has relied on to continue to create an event that promotes sport and prevention.
“It’s a celebration – declared the President of Avanti Tutta, Federico Cenci, during the press conference – which involves all citizens. Grifonissima is part of the history of Perugia and stimulates a strong collective identity spirit. We have tried to summarize it through the logo of this edition, thanks to the artist Andrea Deiana, with a griffin that runs in the name of universal values, such as love and life. On Sunday 12 May we will have the opportunity to underline how these days are also an important opportunity to spread the topic of prevention and healthy lifestyles”.
These are hours of intense work on an organizational level for Gianluca Pisello, historic organizer of Grifonissima, awarded by Csen Perugia with the ‘Grifoncello d’Oro’.
“It will be a new edition – commented Pisello – with a lot of space dedicated to kids, especially in the afternoon where Santa Giuliana will be transformed into the venue for a challenge between young athletes and a DJ contest. With the support of Avanti Tutta, Grifonissima has enriched its spirit of a gathering event, bringing attention to issues of a high human level”.
At the presentation conference of the 43rd edition, the President of Coni Umbria Domenico Ignozza, the Sports Councilor of the Municipality of Perugia, Clara Pastorelli, the provincial President of Fidal, as well as President of the Atletica Perugia club, Alessandro Sorci, registered their presence. Luca Ginetto, President of the Panathlon Club Perugia and Giuliano Baiocchi, President of CSEN Perugia.
THE RACE
The 10.5 km competitive race will start at 9.30 from Corso Vannucci 39, arriving at Santa Giuliana. Shortly after the 3.5 km non-competitive walk, open to school children, families and all citizens.
GRIFONISSIMA IN XL FORMAT
The 43rd edition will take place throughout the day. A real novelty, which the Avanti Tutta Foundation wanted to introduce to increasingly involve the world of young people.
1st GRIFONISSIMA TROPHY FOR RUNNER RUNNERS: Aimed at the FIDAL promotional category of children between 5 and 10 years old. The competitions organized by the Atletica Perugia Team are part of the Perugia stage of the Arcobaleno Trophy with speed competitions, hurdles, long jump, high jump and vortex throw. Participation medals for everyone and the first Grifonissima Trophy for the FIDAL club with the highest number of registered athletes.
GRIFODJCONTEST: In the same afternoon in the hospitality area of the Santa Giuliana stadium on the Grifonissima stage, a contest will be held between young DJs who will have the opportunity to present their own mixed music sequences. The music of young people will be the soundtrack of the Rainbow Trophy which will see more than 500 children between 5 and 10 years old inside the historic Perugian stadium. The event is organized in collaboration with the Storie Association and the jury will be made up of a pool of professional disk jockeys. The first three selected sequences will be the protagonists of the DJ evening Sunday 16 June at the Avanti Tutta Days which will be held in Perugia at the Leonardo Cenci green route on 2.15pm and June 16th next.
REGISTRATIONS
It is possible to register for the 10.5 kilometer competitive race within Friday 10 May (1pm) at the platform www.icron.it and/or at the headquarters of the Avanti Tutta in Foundation Piazzale Umbria Jazz in Perugia (9-13; 15-18). For the non-competitive walk, registration will remain open until Sunday morning before the start of the race, with a stand specially positioned in Piazza della Repubblica in Perugia, starting on Saturday. For the rest, the reference is the headquarters of Avanti Tutta. Costs: 15 competitive, 5 euros for the walk
THE SCHOOLS
All schools in the Perugia area, primary and secondary, can participate in the Grifonissima for free. Registrations are still open and will remain so until Friday 10 May.

It was entrusted to the Perugian artist Andrea Deiana.
A racing version of the Grifo, accompanied by a rather suggestive slogan: live, love, run! Without forgetting the image of Leo Cenci and the famous big thumb combined with the Grifonissima writing.
