The ridiculous statement from the municipal administration of Teramo.
Perhaps to prepare for the European elections and meet the consensus of the citizens, perhaps not to contravene the recent modification of the art. 9, fundamental of the constitution, “which also attributes to the Republic the protection of the environment, biodiversity and ecosystems and explicitly specifies a principle of protection for animals.”
Our far-sighted mayor, Gianguido D’Alberto, supported by the enlightened councilor, Pina Ciammariconi, with responsibility for animal welfare, perhaps felt obliged to fill his mouth with promises to protect the poor wild boars, promising trap cages instead of ruthless rifles, for capture without barbarity, praising animal welfare, overlooking the ultimate goal which is to send them to slaughter laboratories.
It is right that citizens should not have to walk around the city with wild boars, but it is equally right that the poor ungulates, forced to flee their natural habitats to escape ruthless hunting, can be reinserted into their former environmental context. We therefore ask that this mockery be thwarted and that the right choices be made for animals and humans, to protect biodiversity and animal welfare, making use of ethologists who are experts in the field.
