After conquering eight editions in the pastPiotti did double in these two years, 2023 and 2024, rejecting the attempt at dethronement brought by several high-ranking adversaries also on this Sunday 5 May. The specialist from Morazzone placed the best score in the second heatthe central one (each competitor had three attempts available), with 132.84 after a debut below 136 and a third test in which knocking down a pin cost a 10″ penalty.

Very Marco Riboni arrived close to Piotti of Melzo, with 142 points, on board a Fiat 127; the podium was completed by the Turin driver Giuseppe Scozzafava on a Radical RS4 at 145: they were two of the candidates for the top positions and they did not disappoint.

Another Varese native placed instead fourth: Lele Rodili from Gavirate (Ford Fiesta with Opel engine prepared at home) with 148.68 preceded another Turin, Palmiro Strizzi on a Roadster. In the top ten Marco too Lions from Como, “Bomberos” from Verbania, Paolo Edge from Cuneo and the others “branded Varese” Stefano Dal Magro and Alexander Marchetti. The latter – animator of the “Race To Donate” solidarity project – also took his place among the Group N cars.

The presence of several riders who came from far away should not be surprising because the Luino-Montegrino was valid as the first stage of the 1st Zone Slalom Cup, the specialty ranking wanted by AciSport.

As for the other awards, the Rita Sammartino from Varese he hit the trophy female and the class E2 with a Legend Car while the aforementioned Paolo Edge (for group S) and Marco Lions (group A) won the two trophies dedicated to the memory of Giancarlo Biasuzzi. Among Antonio’s historic victories Avesani; born in 2000, Davide’s prerogative Titians and in N1600 of Orlando Tartaini.

The public success and the organization set up by ACI Varese – in collaboration with the two municipalities of Luino and Montegrino Valtravaglia – confirm the goodness of this formula proposed again from last year and they lead one to believe that in the future the Alto Varesotto slalom it could be a date increasingly solid for specialists and motor lovers.
